I posted earlier regarding an Noveske AR 15 and was looking through their site and thought about building one. I would probably save a bit of money. My question is will these parts that I have listed go well together.

If youre gonna get a NOVESKE Upper......at least buy a NOVESKE Lower....there are a lot of guys selling them on here. SEC has them in stock stripped.

You can buy a Lower parts kit and  Stock kit on here at a good deal. maybe about $120 for both. Not NOVESKE but at least it will look better than a BCM on the bottom

Agreed, go Noveske (chainsaw?) for the major parts (upper, lower, barrel) if you want a near-Noveske home build.  You really only need the barrel but where's the fun in that...

I do love the NSR rail with my small hands though.  Close competition is the new BCM rail.

AR-15's are modular so you can mix and match parts unless they use proprietary parts like KAC or certain piston guns.  Some guys like to keep it all one company but if you're just looking for a solid rifle, nothing wrong with mixing brands to save some money.  BCM is a solid company so you should have no issues.  Have you considered LMT?  I don't know if they still have them in stock but OGC had LMT complete lowers that were cheaper than that BCM.  This is my Noveske upper on an LMT lower.  Fit is fine, no gaps between the receivers and the pivot/takedown pins fit snug but can still be pushed out by hand.

Thanks for the help guys, I kind of think you all made it a bit tougher for me to decide hahaha. Only reason I was looking at building one was to save about 800-900 so I could use that on optics lol I hear good things about BCM and Noveske
But when I say build I meant complete upper and complete lower as I have not built one yet. Well I emailed noveske to see if they have any gen III lowers available if I were to purchase their complete Afghan barrel we shall see Monday,
If not I will probably order that BCM lower or stick with my complete build I have on preorder which I wont see for nearly a year.

You can just take just the lower or the complete gun.

I know handgun transfers from an FFL are pickier since you have apply for a specific permit.

If you are transferring ownership through an FFL (i.e. buying from a gun shop), take the entire rifle as purchased. 

If the transfer paperwork the FFL faxes to HPD shows a 16" barrel, HPD is going to need to visually verify that.

My guess is, if this is a new purchase from an FFL (not a private sale), and the FFL did not sell you a "Receiver Only", you're safer registering the complete rifle.

Maybe someone else has done the opposite and can correct me, but that's my advise.

Yup, as long as you only purchased the lower from a vender.  If you purchase a complete firearm from a vender, they ask for the upper that's listed on the receipt.  That's what happened to me anyway.

In that case, "Receiver Only" is fine for the HPD registration.  No upper needed!   

I've read on here that some people are asked what caliber and barrel length the owner intends to install so they can put that on the registration.  That hasn't been my experience.

I've purchased 4 stripped lowers, and every registration says "Receiver Only" with MULTI for caliber and no barrel length specified.

  Thank you for helping me with my questions, good to know that the lower is the only thing that has to go down. Hopefully my AR turns out pretty sweet look forward to the range.
