What the hell is wrong with kids these days?  I think all of the media attention is driving a lot of this.  It would be nice if the media wouldn't sensationalize this type of stuff (like how they generally don't report suicides) but I guess something on such a large scale can't really be contained.  It would be nice if they put some effort towards thinking of solutions rather than just reporting for ratings.  Enough is enough.

I knew it would bring out the anti gunners.  "We need more gun control! It would've been worse if he had a gun!"

That's right.

It's been proven that teenagers empathize or identify with other teens who commit suicide.  That's why the news outlets stopped reporting on any suicides.  Particularly when the victim lived in small towns, reports of one suicide were quickly followed by multiple others.  Researchers determined the first acted as a trigger.

The same goes for mass murderers and other types of criminals.  They like seeing themselves as famous.  They are seeking the attention they have never gotten living their ordinary lives.  Now that the media are plastering the images of the shooters on TV for days on end, and the Internet trends include the killer's name for weeks, it's the perfect "ego stroke" for the few psychos looking to get noticed.

Maybe it's time to start pushing for laws to water down the reports when mass shootings, school shootings, or any other criminal shootings occur.  At least don't use the shooter's name or picture.  While it might be interesting to see or hear, that kind of news really benefits no one other than the criminals.
