Kaiwi Coast Run will affect traffic going to the range early on Sunday morning.
I think it clears up pretty quick though, unlike the marathon.

I went Sat. 12/2 first shooting session at 8:00 am.

Getting better.

I noted it takes me 1 hr. and 20 minutes (approx) round trip to and from the range.  The shooting session is 1 hr. and 30 minutes.

I went in about 1:30.
Not many people there. Towards the end, only had 2 guys.
The RSO's there are pushing me to join them as an RSO.
I'm thinking about it. But like you said, it's about a 1-1/2 hour round trip.

That would be great, doing something you love to do part time since your recent retirement.  Although I do wonder how you and the other RSO's will get shooting time?

The rso can shoot a little while working.
It would be like taking a lunch break or bathroom break.
Somebody else should be there.

I played with ammo for more than 43 years now. I discovered that small guns don't necessarily = more recoil. Thimk about it. When you shorten the bbl, you reduce the velocity. If you reduce the velocity,  you reduce recoil. You noted the big fireball which indicates a slower burning propellant. Slower burn rate propellants need bbl length to allow the powder time to push the projectile. In a nutshell, it's not a linear relationship and yes...size DOES matter. Hahaha 

Ps. Yes I have my chronograph data from the last 40+ years.

That +p ammo was pretty loud too. You're right, probably not the best choice for carry ammo

There are certain ammo that work better in short barreled carry pieces. Personally I use 147 gr off the tests from what I’ve watched from the shootingthebull410 series. He’s pretty thorough in his testing. And the results look pretty good.

I’ve also made training ammo with 147 coated cast projectiles that mimic velocity and recoil, so I could practice at a lesser cost.

I haven't been to the range since they implemented the reservation system.

If I wanted to go to the pistol or rifle range tomorrow afternoon, do I need to make get a reservation or can I just walk in?
