BREAKING: Obama Administration Bans Import of Izhmash & Kalashnikov (Saiga) Fire (Read 23236 times)

s197

Some say we will never get it back after a ban is in place but at one point in time we were in a cold war with them
Not long ago. So do you all feel like it will never return to back to business as usual eventually.  Or not in our lifetime?   >:(

I don't think the sanctions will be forever, I'd be shocked if they last more than a year or two.  These sanctions are devastating to the Russian economy as their export of nat gas & oil is huge.  It also hurts Europe a lot but Europe has built some reserves from the last time the Gazprom lines got shut off so they are somewhat prepared.  The big X factor here is Putin who is a total whack job.  If they invade a NATO country then I think it's time to say, "oh shit" but right now there isn't enough to bring us back to a cold war era.

They are sporting rifles anyway. It's not like they are "assault weapons." The Saigas and VEPRs are all in sporting configuration.

Maybe Izhmash and Molot can find a way around this, maybe import through a different country/company? It only bans the company Izhmash/Kalashnikov Concern, not the actual firearms. So what's to stop any other company from importing them?

does this mean prices of ALL aks go up due to less on the market???

Probably.  Mostly due to a combination of unscrupulous dealers and uninformed buyers.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

A local LGS already gave warning that their stock is going on gun broker if local folks don't come in and buy them "before open market prices go into effect"

China and Russia share thousands of miles of border and they are the largest net importer of oil in the world. That's why China is silent, they just signed a huge energy contract with Russia.

I realize this is a gun forum but the economics is, this is about energy not about AKs.

Back door gun control in my opinion I wonder whats next? >:( >:(
