I just got a new AR-15, now what should I do?

Here's a question for those more experienced AR-15 users.
I picked up an AR-15 upper and stuck it on my assembled lower, but now what? Is there anything I should do before firing it? Lube, grease, etc...? Actually, for that matter, is there anything I should do to the lower and the fire control group?

Clean it, lube it.  Check the function with some dummy rounds/snap caps.  That's about it.

If you are not sure of the lineage of your frankenrifle, have Nakas check on it at Koko Head before you actually fire live ammo through it.. I've seen some winners out there - missing various parts like springs and pins, loose barrel nuts, wrong twist rate.

Always wear good eye protection.

Forgive the noobness, but how should I clean and lube? Boresnake down the barrel, and some CLP on the bolt lugs?
