My Sig came with 7 LE magazines should I block them or by new ones (Read 6790 times)

chucke25

In about two week I'll have 7 LE Sig magazines waiting for me.  Should I spend the cash $25 a magazine to get them blocked or just spend the money on some new Mec-Gar magazines?  If I buy new ones the Sig magazines would be destroyed at HPD.

I was told any LE officer could pick up the magazines, so I thought about a classified add.  Does anyone know if I could post a classified add for any interested LE officer to pick up the magazines and buy them from me?

If this post is breaking any rules  I'll delete or alter to conform to forum policies.

thank you for any advice,

Chuck

simply physically having them here within the State is a misdemeanor. selling them within the State is also illegal .
the FFL should be able to help you get rid of them.

which sig is it for?

FFL said it would take a long time to sell mags so they didn't want to do it.  These mags came off a 228 13, 15, and a 20 rounder I think.

Selling them to LE is still illegal if I didn't  even take possession of them?

chucke25, don't waste the money having them blocked.

I would ask the FFL to hold them for you. (If they will)

Post a listing for sale on gunbroker or any of the other national gun sales sites.

When they sell and you get your money. Bring a USPS flat rate box (pay the postage beforehand) to the FFL and have him mail them to the buyer.

HPD doesn't need to destroy anything.

Or yes, absolutely, you can run a for sale ad locally, have the LEO meet you at the gun store and pay you and pick up the magazines.

Are they for a 40 or 9mm?

If you have a friend or relative living in a state where these are legal for anyone to own, I would just take a flat rate USPS box to the FFL addressed to that person.  Once your friend/relative has them in-hand, they can sell them for you.  If they find a local buyer there, to me, that's always preferred over mailing gun items to strangers online in other states!

A local FFL won't be making much, if anything, by helping you out -- holding them until they sell.  The faster you take them off the FFL's hands, the better, IMO.

Good luck!

You can take them apart as parts but I doubt the ffl will give them to you.

To bad you didnt ask around first. I would have helped you with blocking the mags

unless your ffl would let us pick them up. but they probably wouldn't

Would it be possible to post a classified add to sell them to LE only?  They could be released to them and they could pay me at the gun shop.  I just want to clear this with the site moderator before I post it.

I have no problem with that.

You know, blocking mags is ridiculously easy.  A couple of well-placed pop rivets do the job, meet the law, and can be reversed when you leave the state.
