If you have an old 12 V car battery, wire up some brake light bulbs to it.
Their pretty bright.
Works even if the battery is bad and does not have enough amps to turn over the engine, but still holds some voltage.   :geekdanc:

BUT make sure the wires are THICK otherwise might cause FIRE HAZARD if insulation burns through.

Looks like our BI brothers and sisters are going to get hit with hurricane force winds and rain.   Please Take Care!!!

Yes, this is no joke. Looks pretty serious from all the news and weather reports. HILO looks definitely gonna get slammed. And I saw on news up to 10+ inches rain. Flood risk is high.

Yeah, Hilo side worries me, you guys keep your heads down over there.

I am hoping our volcanoes do their thing and break the storm up a bit so the Kona side just gets a good blow and rain.

Rains started in Hilo right at noon not real heavy yet. Blowing about 20 mph out of the north. Got done doing the last minute stuff just as it got here. Radio's saying that it should be here just about dark.

We took all the tarps down at the (Glenwood) range late yesterday afternoon.  Right now, it's raining and a  little blustery, but so far, so good.

I got one tree down so far. Barely hit the house. Minimal damage  good news. Plenty more trees bad news.  :shaka:

The really dark heavy clouds are coming in fast now from a more easterly direction from the Puna and volcano area. Winds were at about 40 mph with a bit stronger gusts. Al the crap blowing into my yard are from the neighbor's yard. I never saw anyone outside prepping anything all day.

Someone termed all the trash along the road on the way to the dump the "Hawaiian car wash" or something.  Mebbe your neighbors are figuring this is a good way to get the trash out of their yard (and maybe into yours?)

We got all out small loose stuff inside, tied down lawn chairs, ran the generator powering the refrig, etc.  About as set as I know how to be.

Wife said the KTA was duct taping all the windows.  I said no freaking way I do that. They do that for liability from flying glass, ain't going to stop a window from breaking.

Got to explain everything sometimes.

This is one angry storm. The leading edge should just about be on land by now. It's gusting up above 45 mph.with no rain so far. The back end of the storm might be pretty nasty. If you think you have prepared, checked, and

double checked, go and make another check while you got time. I rechecked all the way up until the first rains hit.

Good luck, people. I'll see you all after this is over.         :shaka:

Anyone near waikoloa?

I have a friend there, can't reach (could be busy working or whatever). Just want to see what's the situation there and if getting worse by the hour.
