for rifle I like 7.62x39,51,54r and for handgun my governor can eat .410 bore, .45 colt and .45 ACP I would say the best caliber is the one you can access and employ effectively, it's doubtful a perp. would stop and say is that a .22 cal

I would just hide in a storm cellar, or basement and wait til it passes, I don't think it's a good idea to shoot at a typhoon, can't really hurt it and you might kill some innocent person in the process.

Yup wish I had a cement bunker to hang out in if a real storm hit. Joking, like after any storm, surf, fishing and maybe hunting might get good. Depends where you live or what vermin might appear in the "woods"... lol

If you can get your hands on old scrapped tires, you can build a hurricane and bullet proof bunker with just some backfill and rebar to tie the columns together and reinforce the structure. For the roof, either some anchored down 6x6 or logs.
Q sounds like a good idea for a bug out bunker, a little getto but functional. Family would think I lost it rolling used tires and hauling rebar down the hill. Lol
My luck if I did it City or State would fine me for dumping.
Got a lot of bamboo and pigs to make bunker project interesting. Was planning to build tree stands instead but who knows. Wish I had planted more fruit trees down the hill too.
Maybe you should post a new topic storm shelter  / bunker or bug out hide. Lol

Before we  :stopjack: .....

Bamboo is junk for hurricanes; good for tsunami's though.
Depends what you're going to use bamboo for? Definitely not for roof of a bullet proof bunker.
Q,
Would like you should start a new topic thou. Like your posts lots of good info, really like survival foods and what plants to grow. Regret not planting more fruit trees in the back and on state land. Avacados and bananas grow fast and pigs love um too. Free fruit and your own hunting reserve  ::).
Don't build tree stands in avavado trees. Boy I got a yikes story. Lol

That's exactly why I bought my .22 cal pellet guns.

They might be the most valuable.

How do cats taste ? Just like chicken ?
