Been following this thread for awhile now and must say, this sounds like too much fun.
I'm certainly having more fun than my wife thinks I should. Actually, she hates me doing it.
+2 to tonight.
I've always had a problem with the tins of pellets being banged around in shipping and messing up a large percentage of the pellets in a tin (besides the pellets not all being perfectly the same from the factory). A skirt that is even bent a tiny bit can throw off accuracy by an inch or more at 10 yards.
So I started hunting for *true* "match grade" pellets. It took a long time to find them but
www.anschutznorthamerica.com carries RWS ammo - both pellets and .22 cal bullets.
They were more expensive than the ones I ordered from amazon but at least shipping was cheap. When I got the box that had the tin of pellets I found an extremely good packing job. I haven't found a single bent skirt yet (amazon tins sometimes as bad as 50%). Considering this the pellets are actually cheaper there than at amazon on a per pellet price.amazon. The pellets themselves were obviously high quality too. No die marks or shards of lead hanging off. Regular pellets are not nearly as smooth nor are the weights exactly the same pellet to pellet (these seem to be).
It has done wonders for accuracy. Where before when target shooting I'd usually have at least one "flyer" per 8 count magazine, these nail the same hole over and over. I haven't missed a rat yet since using these pellets.
I suspect their .22 cal bullets are just as high in quality if any of you are looking for primo small caliber ammo.
