Hunting on Lanai
« on: August 12, 2014, 10:24:17 AM »
I'm going to be coming for a visit at the beginning of 2015, and I wanted to try do some hunting while I'm there.  I was thinking archery, but I guess it doesn't really matter.  I hunt a lot in Canada and figured it might be pretty cool to try in Hawaii.  I don't think that I will be there during the best time of the year, but I'd like to give it a shot anyway.

I'll be staying in Kihei, on Maui, but I heard that hunting on Lanai is probably a bit better, but you all can probably help me out with some places to go.  Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, tips, etc., that would be great, or if anyone wants a hunting buddy for a couple days, that would be even better (and I have a case of ice-cold beer with your name on it!).

Ok, so now I'm not even sure there are any open seasons on Lanai while I'm there.  Maybe just goats and pigs on Maui?  Or would it be better to try git to the big island?  Damn, I wish I was coming at a better time of the year...

yup. 60 bucks to bowhunt year round do it yourself. except the bucks will either be in soft velvet, have no horns at all or just starting to grow em at the beginning of the year. the state hunt is in february though for another option. thats free and everyone that applies gets a tag for it (i think even for out of staters).  bucks will be in velvet tho

Out of state hunting license for Hawaii is $95 dollars. The applicant also needs to verify some type of formal hunters education class to qualify for the license.
