Would there be any protests...civil unrest?

This is not really a true hypothetical.  When was the last time the white community protested anything with riots and looting?  They usually reserve these activities for sports championship games.

And the Black community won't protest any injustice they can't label as racist.   So, forget about them rioting for a white "kid" being gunned down by police.

Supposedly this guy was wearing earphones and didn't hear the police.  I take that with a grain of salt since other articles paint him as a chronic loser.
Point being Brown was a loser too, so there you go.

I'm sure white michael brown incidents happen everyday.

I think all this crap is blown out of proportion and the fact that obummer hasn't done crap leads me to believe he is responsible for creating this dialog.  And would like to see more of this type of civil unrest.

These types gain their power from this type of crap.  Keep those folks 'oppressed', blame it on the folks who work and pay the bills, give them 'free stuff' (insignificant and barely sustaining) and bribe them to keep voting the same way....

Its obvious that these protests may have been sparked by Michael Brown, but the whole area was a powder keg to begin with. STLO area is right behind Detroit with poverty and racial tension.

What bothers me aren't the protests.  There are protesters, and there are rioters.  A very big distinction.

Many of the protesters on the ground are saying that the majority of the rioters are not locals in the community, they are people who came from other areas because they saw an opportunity to cause havoc and loot local businesses in the wake of what happened.  At one point the locals in the community began protesting the rioters, as well as the police.

The plot also thickens when there are supposedly people who validate the officer's versions of events and the officer suffered facial fractures.

But on the basic question itself I don't think it would have made the news if Brown were white. Would they have riots if the officer were black? They sure don't seem to care when black kids shoot other black kids.

If anything, they get PO'd and claim you are racist for criticizing the black "culture".  No one but they are allowed to comment on their "culture".

Surely they could have shot to wound.. I mean.. set phasers to stun!
 

Autopsy stated he was shot six times.  One of the shots entered the top of his head.

 I remember a story, I heard or read somewhere, of a similar incident where some chronic was charging toward a woman, she unloaded her revolver, bad guy ended up with a shot to the top of the head.  Just something to think about.... 

They reported the Huge Teenager was shot 4 times in the arm and twice in the head.
One entered in the eye socket and one in the top of the head.
All shots came from the front.

Based on this my theory is that the Huge Teenager was charging.
Cop tried to shoot him in the body 4 times but Huge dude had arms out front.
When Huge teenager didn't stop, cop double tapped to the head.
First entered the eye socket and second entered the top of the head. ( or vice versa if his was down initially )

Note: This is pure conjecture with no factual basis.
However, not many people could get shot twice in the head, then 4 times in the arm(s)

If MB was white, there'd be virtually no uproar from the media or the race pimps. Remember, there really isn't  a white Sharpton or Jackson.

The media thrives on ginning up racial animus because it generates ratings. There isn't a history of institutionalized racism against whites (okay, there was the Irish, but still...) like there was for blacks, so whenever there's a situation where the appearance can be manipulated or outright warped to fit that agenda, the liberal media jumps at the opportunity.'

Case in point: there was a white man in Detroit recently that was dragged out of his car and beaten by a black mob. Where was the round-the-clock news coverage of this event? Had this been a black man and a white mob, you can bet the media would be covering this. And there was a case a few years ago in Tennessee, in which five blacks kidnapped, raped, tortured and murdered a white couple. Can you imagine the race riots and protests if the skin colors were reversed?

Many of the media reports are focusing on the timeline/sequence of events FOLLOWING the shooting.

What about the events immediately preceding the shooting?

These would have an impact upon the LEO's behavior.

And what the fuck were they doing walking down the middle of the road, causing a public safety issue?

A basic rule that I learned as a kid: If you don't want to get hassled by the cops, don't do stupid shit that forces them to take notice of you.

Anti-social types tend to lack good judgement.  Case in point -- this dude was a fugitive with several warrants for his arrest.  What does he do?  Does he lay low and stay off the police radar?

No!  He parks in a handicap spot waiting for his girlfriend to run into a store.

So, a COP looks at him sitting there with no handicap decal.  Asks the guy to move out of courtesy rather than immediately writing a ticket.  Does the guy move the car?

No!  He tells the COP he's waiting on someone and will be leaving as soon as she comes out of the store. 

The COP asks for the usual:  License, registration and insurance.  The dispatcher notifies the COP of the warrants, and he hooks up the dude.   

So, it's not very far fetched to hear of two punks who just committed a robbery to be walking in the middle of the street calling attention to themselves.
