Jose Guerena, a 26 year old Marine Corps Veteran that served two tours in Iraq was shot dead in his home by SWAT. Jose had just gone to sleep after working a 12-hour night shift when his terrified wife who saw men with hoods and guns at her door woke Jose up. As a trained Marine, Jose instructed his wife and 4-year old son to hide in the closet while he reached for his AR15. After SWAT kicked the door down, and in seconds, they fired at least 70 rounds – 22 into Jose, and many pierced through his house and onto the neighbor’ house. Early local media reported that Jose shot first. But an investigation proved otherwise as the weapon Jose reached for and was later recovered still had the safety engaged and had not been fired.

I made the point in the other thread that incidents like this are a "hot topic" on the net among those who are concerned with the erosion --nay, decimation -- of our Fourth Amendment rights in this country, especially with respect to no-knock raids.  Regardless of the merits, pros, and cons of this particular story, it illustrates that these things are happening, even though apparently they are not yet much of a problem in Hawaii.
