Your number one Option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

3 incidents of negligent discharge in 2 months.   Betting was all glocks.  I think lapd had plenty issues of negligent discharge when they first got glocks.  Bunch of officers shot themselves in the leg while holstering.

Of course, these days it is politically incorrect to ask. but was he alone in the stall?

I know, this is not S.F., but still, Honolulu has quite the reputation anymore............

But, only COPs are trained and responsible enough to carry a loaded firearm.....

Hey, it was a cop, that's got to mean it's OK. Right?

How can we pass judgment? After all, we weren't there.

How could we, mere citizens, lacking in all the advanced training afforded to HPD officers, be expected to understand all the "stresses" this officer was under?

I suggest we all refrain from any undue speculation until a "proper" investigation by highly educated fellow HPD officers is completed. They, of course, have more information than we do.

I'm sure that if anything done was wrong or negligent HPD will let us know right away, they would never withhold anything from the public.   :D

The story said that he called 911 so maybe he was off duty in civilian clothes? If he was in uniform wouldn't he have a radio to use?

Do you really think he would blast out over the radio, so that every one monitoring the channel could hear, that he just came close to shooting his dingle off in a mens room?

I was thinking that but it's not like it's gonna be a secret by calling 911.

"HPD officers are issued Glocks as their duty weapon. "

I wonder what kind of holster the off-duty officer was using.  At condition zero, shouldn't the trigger be covered by the holster completely?

Reminds me of the incident when the Indiana Police Chief accidentally shoots himself in a gun store.  His Glock's trigger got caught in his jacket's drawstring.

As a "GlockHead" I gotta jump in here.
ANY firearm can discharge when improperly holstered/handled.

With the Glocks being new to HPD, maybe they should have had some additional training regardings Glock's "Safe Action"  trigger.
Or we can just blame these inappropriate firearm discharges on clothing, windbreaker draw strings, morning wood etc...

And they get to CCW even when off the job.  :wtf:
