Sprint sucks.

I'm going to Verizon as soon as the new iPhone 6 comes out.

My wife and in laws have sprint, I have AT&T. At our previous home sprint signal sucked and AT&T was not much better, so I called Sprint to complain that their service signal was shitty and that I was going to switch carriers. They checked their database and said yes Mr. x we can see that reception/service is poor in your area and sent me a Airave signal booster free of charge. http://www.sprint.com/landings/airave/?ECID=vanity:Airave the Airave is your own personal cell tower in your home. An Airave would help you only at a fixed location like your home or office it would not help on Pali or Likelike highways. I have since moved to a new home and the Sprint signal is even worse here than the old house, the Airave solves that problem.

Will not help you on Oahu, but I have Sprint through HawaiiTelcom on the Big Island.  Coverage sucks compared to Verizon.

Had one time where I needed to call my wife from the middle of Kailua town and the damn phone refused to make the call.  So much for having a cell phone for emergency use.  As soon as the two year contract is up, back to Verizon even with higher cost.  At least the thing will usually work.

A coworker of mine still has Sprint just for the defunk Nextel 2 way calling feature.  He says it usually works fine in the OP's area listed.  But my coworker did mention he is leaving Sprint for a family plan with AT&T, since everyone else in his family have iPhones.

I have Verizon, so far it has the best coverage especially when travelling inter-island via boat.

Had Nextel before it changed to Sprint. Sprint sucks. Changed to Verizon 2 years ago, way better service and coverage.

both companies vary I know this is not going to help but the norm is if either my wife or I does not have coverage the other will.

Three of us at work all have iPhone 5S's. One on Verizon, one on Sprint, and I'm on AT&T. Our office is in Kakaako. The Sprint guy rarely gets more than two bars, and usually does not get any coverage at our office. Verizon & AT&T iPhones have full bars in the same spot. For the Sprint guy, text messages usually go through, but he is unable to use data consistently. He'll be switching to T-Mo next month when his contract is up because he has coverage problems elsewhere (not just at work). Verizon guy is on Verizon because he's originally from Hilo where Verizon has good coverage. He has no problems here on Oahu too. I have no major coverage problems with AT&T, except at Aloha Stadium. I stick with AT&T because I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan for the iPhone. I would leave for a different carrier if AT&T ever eliminates my plan out of principle, but don't have any major issues with them.

My work phone is Sprint.  Not very clear, and too many cold spots.  I have had Cingular & AT&T since 94 and have always been happy with their coverage, quality, and pricing.  Whenever my contract was over, I shopped around to see if I could get better deals/phones from the other guys, but I always wound up staying with AT&T.

The only place I ever saw a difference was in a Navy building (Commander Pacific Fleet HQ).  My coworker's Sprint phone could get service, but apparently one or more of the comms systems in the building interfered with AT&T -- could barely get 2 bars if that.

sprint blows. i moved to tmobile because they have free international data and text which is sweet. also sprint took away my old 25% company discount so i said fuck em.
sprint just started their new 10 lines for 100 bucks family plan which was tempting but the internet is slow and the coverage is weak. they also have far less stores to visit to check out phones or get repairs. i hate the sprint kakaako location. its mostly the same stupid workers over the last 5 years i had sprint.
ive had verizon sprint and tmobile in the last 6 years. if verizon were cheaper i would stick with them. a comparable plan with verizon is about 25% than tmobile though plus no intl data.

Spoke with Sprint yesterday and their new network should be in full effect in two weeks. Was told going to be better then the other guys and cheaper by far. So yes Sprint currently sucks balls but holding on for a month to see if that materialize.

That's the exact same load of steamy B.S. They dumped on me 2 years ago when I complained about coverage.

looks like they have been promising 4G upgrades "in a few months" for almost 2 years now
just do a quick google search

https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/147803?start=60&tstart=0

So I've seen the maps and that LTE service is available in my area now. Since the upgrade last week, I have been able to utilize the service for a whopping total of 30 minutes, which was great. I understand that it'll take up to 30 days for the system to optimize (or whatever) but it seems my reception has gotten even worse (which I didn't think was possible). Text messages come an average of 1.5 hrs late and voicemails up to 4 days late. I now get only 0-1 bars of 3G/1x service in my home and although it shows full 3G service, pages still don't load. What gives, sprint? Can the 4G service be optimized without compromising my already ****** service?

I use exclusively , GSM  technology as it has the ability to be used globally. only ATT and TM offers it.
CDMA has limited carriers in Europe and Asia, thus, Sprint and Verizon is off my list.

New iPhones from 5 up has different models and thus cannot switch between carriers of different codes.
