And the DA prosecuting the case is the same clown who gave Ray Rice a pass. Go figure. You beat your fiancee unconscious with video evidence to prove it and you're let off with a slap on the wrist. You mistakenly carry your legal firearm into the People's Republic of New Jersey and they throw the book at you.

And the judge is also the same in both cases as well. Shaneen Allen was recommended for the pre-trial intervention program, as was Rice, but Rice was accepted by the D.A. (McLain, appointed by Christie) and judge for the program, while Shaneen Allen was not. Go figure. New Jersey politics is one of the most, if not the most corrupt systems in the U.S. And these laws and consequent prosecutions are, at least in part, a result of that corruption. SNAFU.

Speaking of SNAFU, weird that the NFL finally took more serious action in response to Rice's criminal behavior only after the video of him punching his fiance (at the time, now his wife) unconscious became public. What'd they think before, he'd flicked his pinky finger on her shoulder and she blacked out? I think this video from the Onion sums it up pretty well:

This is an update from Friday afternoon on the NRA facebook page:

BREAKING NEWS: The prosecutor in the Shaneen Allen case has requested her upcoming trial be delayed while he reviews the appropriate resolution of her case.

Maybe McLain has gotten so much bad press (including national) and feedback that he's considering lowering the charges. Then again, maybe he's considering upping the charges so that she'll get 20 years instead of "only" 10. It is New Jersey after all.
