Good pic on Hawaii News Now gave me a nice reference to find it all on Google Earth.

Damn scary how close to the town it is.

I think that HVO has it on their website that it has already covered the cemetary, which is that brown area just forward of that flow. Some families were in there a few weeks ago to remove some of the graves.

Was telling my wife about the graves about to be covered.  Might be a tough call what to do.  Remove your ancestors or consider is an honored entombment?

It's a tough call. Just gotta respect the family's decisions.

My observations today:

There's a few people on a big island news website comments that are not happy that the community pool is closing down soon.

The Fire Dept. wanted to cut down several monkey pod trees so that they can park their vehicles on the inside part of town behind the lava flow. People protested saying that the trees need to be saved.

IMO it's interesting to see how these people's priorities show their selfishness. The beach is a half hour away. Thousands of trees were run over by the lava. Don't know of any protests there.

lol. my kids used to go to Keonepoko.  No school until Nov 10th.  the signal is the way out, until the lava crosses that road.  we are planning on sticking it out as long as possible (or bearable).  crazy stuff for sure!
It is what it is.
