Arrived just in time for testing today.
Xtreme bullets 45.230 plated ball bullet.
They appear much nicer than I expected. See pic.
Will test these at reduced velocity for glock and hk low cost practice ammo.

Those Extreme Bullets make some nice looking ammo! When I get ready to order more heads I am going to order some 9mm.

Yeah, I did. But not seriously. My initial impression is that if you load practice ammo with that bullet going at about 1100fps, then you will get reliability and accuracy similar to cheap factory 9mm ball. I would bet money that if you had a variety of powders and good brass to experiment with you could achieve match target quality results. The bullets look that good.

 
...So I went to play around with these new bullets.
The goal was create a low cost, reduced power practice ammo for poly rifled bbls eg. Glock and hk pistols.
The reduced power was to ease up the bashing on the shooter and gun.
The ammo should be able to make major for competition shooting.
To make a long story short, I reduced the velocity down to about 740 instead of normal 800+
I used a moderate charge of wst, but I suspect any fast burning pistol powder would work fine.
To my surprise, the ammo was accurate enough for practice and\or combat match shooting. See the 25 yd test target.
Recoil was mild as expected. At current market prices, the cost comes out to about 9 bucks for 50 rounds.
So here is  good economical bullet, ammo solution for glockheads and hk fanboys running stock bbls.

do you have a theory why that is the case?

There is a train of thought that says there are 'nodes' of accuracy out of each gun and barrel.  These nodes can occur at certain steps in velocity, where the bullet exits the muzzle at the optimum timing of barrel flex and vibration is at its calmest.  That is the reasoning behind finding a tailored load for 'your specific gun'.  In short pistol barrels I think the loads are more universal.  In a rifle that can change because a rifle can be more precisely aimed and stably fired.  I have seen in rifle just seating depth can tighten a 3/4" group into a 1 hole group.

I subscribe to these theories, and it has worked very well for me in rifle.  However, since I SUCK at shooting pistol, I have a hard time distinguishing a good load from bad...Lol Haaha.

Also wst is a fairly fast powder pushing a slow heavy bullet.
Allows time for more complete combustion. That's my wag.*

So my friend called me up and was looking to try out some 45 bullets. It seems I ran out of these nice 230's.
As it turns out, xtreme is running 5% discount on these bullets for today. 5.4.15
So I ordered 1m for 118.00 landed.  Pretty good price for a great bullet.

In the meantime my buddy ordered some bullets from ss casting.
Comparing apples to apples, ss coated 230 balls would land here at 120 per m.
nothing wrong with ss bullets. I know plenty guys that use them. But I like shiny stuff better, like my ammo, cars and doggy.
