I was thinking about buying an HK 416D 22LR rifle from Walther/HK then I  came across this posting: very informative. ....Made me rethink my next purchase

I was looking at them too cause you can get them bellow $300 now when cdnn has it on special.   But I was looking at the uzi style.  Both look  like they have cheap pot metal internals

Way to call them out Mr. Santini.  That barrel was a joke, HK and Walther should be ashamed of themselves.

I've got one, picked it up about two years ago, no issues yet... My friend's son was shooting it a couple weeks back, absolutely tearing the center out of a 50 yard target (using a cheap "Chang-COG" optic).  Seems as though this guy got hold of a lemon or the quality control has gone way south.   Great rifle, pretty cheap (picked mine up for about $350 while in AZ.) but I certainly agree it's not a 10/22.   Build quality seems pretty decent, it feels quite solid, but again not as solid as a 10/22 or my GSG STG 44.   Accuracy, pretty darn accurate and quite consistent when compared similar .22's.   The only complaints I have are it's a bitch to clean, really should be easier to maintain, and it's pretty finicky when it comes to ammo.

If you find yourself at the range next weekend and see a fat dude shooting one, it'll probably be me   I'd me more than happy to let those interested try it out & then decide.   Looking for a fun cheap "Tacticool" .22, this or even a M&P22.   If you want a semi auto .22 that'll last forever,10/22 hands down, IMHO anyway
