Where to buy reloading components on Oahu?
« on: December 07, 2014, 02:48:54 PM »
I'm moving back to Oahu and use to go to WGS for. My reloading needs such as powders, primers, etc.  does anyone have any suggestions?

Most all of the LGS have primers of most types. YG and X-Ring have a decent selection of bullets. But WGS has the best selection. WGS also has a good selection of brass. Also, depending on what powder you want WGS probably has the best selection though if you hit X-Ring, SEC and YG at the right time they will also have a decent selection. Don't forget newcomer J Hara Store as they seem to have a somewhat decent selection of supplies.

Realistically, it will probably take a few trips over several weeks to find what you want at the lowest prices as those that have decent amount of supplies generally have the highest prices. Unless you don't mind paying a little higher price then you might find everything you want at one or two stores. There is not much of a shortage any more except for standard pistol powders and certain rifle powders. Generally speaking rifle powders are available if you don't mind using what is available. Magnum pistol powder is coming back but standard pistol powders remain hard to find.

It's hit or miss on powders. Rifle powders seem plentiful. Pistol, not so good.
Primers seem readily available. SEC and J.Hara just posted messages in the vendor section.

Windward shop is the place to go.  I've gotten a couple of things from young guns...but your best bet is windward.

I went there Friday after Christmas. I bought some of the Federal Auto Match .22 they had on sale. And while I was there I bought a set of dies on sale and some brass, also on sale. Unfortunately, powder was not on sale.

There were 2 guys there buying 2 cases each of the .22 when I was there.

Don't you just love wandering around that little store?
I saw a little rubber handle for your hydro flask.
Also an attachment to adapt your smartphone to binoculars.

Yes I do like wandering around that little store. I discover something new every time I go. Actually, next time you are on the Big Island you should stop by their store in Kurtistown. Same idea on a much larger scale. And if you get hungry and thirsty you can grab a musabi and a beer. Then some fish for hibachi at home.

Newest things I saw there were Hi Point pistols. All under $200. I thought Glocks were ugly!!!

Another possibility is to check the board at Kokohead. There was a rather large collection of reloading and gun stuff posted on the 27th. The gentleman had a couple pounds of Bullseye for $10 each. That was picked up quick as I called him the same day he posted it. He is getting out of shooting altogether and has some gun cases, a Hoppes rest and other assorted shooting stuff.
