Has anyone had any experience with this revolver? Weight? Kickback? Etc..

I don't have any experience with them other than fondling the ones at Young Guns over the last couple of weeks. I too would like to read about other's experiences. I was leaning towards the 4" barrel, seems more practical. . . .  They told me it is easier to handle than the 8-3/8" barrel.

I shall have to visit Young Guns to see how it feels. I never considered the shorter barell before, but the weight distribution might make a major difference.

I was just going to say, I have a friend with a S&W 500 that shoots on the silhouette range all the time.

No experience with this caliber.
.......Plenty experience with other magnum revolvers.
If you you really enjoy shooting, get something smaller like a 44 mag.
It's easier to find or make the ammo.

If you want bragging rights, then go for the 500.
Personally, I find the full power magnum pistols rather unpleasant to shoot because I have small hands.
If you are a large person then maybe you can handle it better.
I don't think it would be wise to attempt a steady diet of full power ammo.
Most people run reduced handloads.

What does ammo for that beast run?  Admit to a fondness for outrageous handgun calibers.

I have toyed with getting another .44 Mag to replace the two I sold before moving to the islands, but the $$ of stocking up on yet another caliber slows me way down.  Wish Ruger still made the .44 version of the 10/22 they used to, would make the decision a lot easier.

i think reloads are roughly 50cent depending on your choice of components
i have a  20rnd box factory ammo with price tag of 65$

I would go with the reduced loads for regular shooting. No way would I be using the max shots.

A .44 is on my list too, these would be a good compliment to my .357.

I wish Colt still produced the Python.
