It's anything BUT stupid to the nanny-statists who seek as many (poorly-written, vague and nebulous) laws as possible that can be applied in an arbitrary and capricious manner to harass any citizens who they deem to be "troublesome" or otherwise inconvenient or problematic in furthering their agenda of total control. The fact that it is illogical, irrational, and in no way, by any stretch of the imagination, enhances "public safety" only serves to further demonstrate their capacity to impose government's virtually unlimited power over its subjects, who may or may not be granted certain privileges at their whim. Rights? You ain't got no steenkin' rights.
When we have elected politicians who don't own or understand guns, or even have basic firearm knowledge beyond what they see on TV and the movie screen making the laws governing firearms, THIS is what we wind up with!
Clips, Ghost Guns, Disposal of Empty Magazines, Barrel Shrouds ("That thing that goes over your shoulder"), Automatic, Assault Rifle, High Capacity Magazines, Gun Show Loophole ... these are all terms either made up or misapplied recently by legislators. Most of the people mouthing the words the anti-gunners fed them have no idea whether what they are saying makes sense or is even true! It's as if these law makers are reading a script about how nuclear fusion works with no basic understanding of science!
I personally believe these academics are just lawyers with little to no experience in the areas they are trying to make law. They rely on special interest groups and their party to "guide" them, spoon feeding them the talking points that justify the vote being recommended.
And, let's face it. If the recommended vote falls in line with the lawmaker's own Liberal biases and agendas, he/she is more likely to lean that way if the talking points sound rational to them. The points don't have to be fact-based as long as they tug at the public's heartstrings or can be backed up by 40 year old stats.
