PBS Insights - Hawaii Gun Laws, Thursday, 8 January from 20-2100 (Read 58088 times)

HiCarry

The President of HRA and myself will be squaring off against Peter Carlisle and Karl Rhoads this Thursday at 2000 on PBS Hawaii's Insights.

The topic will be Hawaii gun laws and what additional gun laws are needed. Note that one of the panelists is Karl Rhoads, the Chair of the Judiciary.

The show has the ability to take calls and respond to email and tweets from the viewing public. If you can watch and join in on the discussion, it might be good for the "cause."

This will be the third time Insights have aired a firearms related discussion. The other two (links to shows) are here:

 Great! I already know my question that I'll be emailing in. Best wishes for a fair hearing! I hope a huge number of 2aHawaii followers contact the station during the program to let them know that there are a significant number of potential viewers interested in the issues surrounding our Second Amendment rights.  :shaka:

Watching Carlisle responses was mind numbing. Also the whole wild west thing is a false assumption given that the majority of the states have concealed carry. I hope on this upcoming one the gun control folks are put on the defensive of their ridiculous assumptions.

Reminded me of Piers Morgan  >:( ... I couldn't stand him either. How many times did Carlisle say "clip"?

If someone mentions "Wild West" on Thursday here's a good article.

Since race baiting and racial strife is being instigated and pushed by the media today, I wonder if it would help to point out the base reason "gun control" was created, was to try to prevent minorities and lower economical classes from owning firearms, AND the party of "tolerance" (demorats AKA KKK) propagated this.

Looking forward to it.
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

When I appeared on Insights in 2011, the producer said the volume of calls and emails was greater than any other show. I think the more pro-2A questions and comments, especially if it just totally floods them, the better....

Watching that first video was so infuriating.  Peter Carlisle's arguments are all completely ridiculous and are 100% unfounded by facts.  In future debates please remember to bring up the Chinese school stabbing where approximately 30 people were stabbed if they bring up knives not being as dangerous and the Oregon Mall shooting that was stopped by Nick Meli, a licensed concealed carrier when they say that a CCW in the theater only would have made things worse.......  I understand however that his arguments are so asinine that it's probably hard to respond to him with a serious answer instead of laughing hysterically.

Cool! Glad to hear that. I already sent my question(s) (and supporting documentation  :geekdanc:) via email, but I will plan on calling and emailing during the broadcast, and have alerted several other people to do the same. I also forwarded my email to governor Ige and (my) senator Ruderman, as I raised the question of legislators, law enforcement, and other government employees taking an oath of office to uphold the Constitution(s), and that would be YOU governor and senator.

I kept hearing Carlisle say, "I don't get it" whenever he tried to quash a gun rights argument, like having the right to own a 50 cal sniper rifle.  He keeps trying to see the "need" for a particular gun, when the Constitution doesn't equate firearms with individual needs.  It protects the individual right to keep and bear arms because a free state needs an armed militia to remain free.  If we ever have to put that concept into practice, I bet he will then see the need for a 50 cal sniper rifle!!

Then he tries to use the ridiculous example of a sniper rifle shooting at a plane in flight.  He obviously has no real knowledge of firearms nor of the difficulty involved in hitting a moving target from a distance.  They make missiles and anti aircraft machine guns for a reason ... a sniper rifle isn't suited for that application!

The only thing I agreed with him on was "he doesn't get it."
