doctors note for firearm clearance (Read 10630 times)

doctors note for firearm clearance

I got a denial letter from kaiser
and now i have to go outside of kaiser to get a doctors note to get me cleared

anybody went through this and can refer me to a doctor that will write a note to get me cleared?

I was kinda wondering the same thing would it have to be from a mental health doctor or could it be from a general practitioner or any other doctor i.e. dentist?

I feel your pain!!

Since my original post above, I acquired a medical clearance letter from a private physician, outside of Kaiser.
I tried everything to get Kaiser to clear me, but to no avail, will never happen!
I now have to get a updated clearance letter every year, for HPD
Since acquiring letter, Nov 2013, I have: renewed my "long gun permit", purchased 2 handguns,
renewed my employment "License To Carry Firearm" permit & in process purchasing a revolver.
The cost for this letter: Kaiser copy of medical records $75 & $125 for private physician assessment.

Note: I know a fellow employee, recently, has fallen into this trap.  She has been trying to get a private physician to
sign off on clearance letter.  In the past 3 days she has not found a doctor to give her clearance :(

you need a permit to carry at work? i thought you didn't need to since it would be considered a place of sojourn? or something like that, or is it only if you own the business?

There's a difference between "carry at work" and employment that requires a license to carry.  If you worked in a coffee shop, for example, and the owners said that it was OK for you to carry while on the job, then you could carry inside the coffee shop without any further paperwork.  If, on the other hand, you were a security guard for an armored car company, and regularly were traveling around town, entering other businesses, walking on the streets, etc. while carrying, then you would need a license to carry.

Probably so.  2 for 1 special?  Better to get your medical paperwork cleared than having your $$$$ / gun sitting in the shop for another couple of months waiting for Kaiser's clearance.  :shaka:
