Do handgun mag blocks to 10 rounds meet HI handgun laws?
« on: February 16, 2015, 12:57:59 PM »
Does anyone know for sure if a WWII German Hi Power magazine with a mag block installed taking it from 13 to 10 round capacity meet state laws?  Or does the state law only allow original 10 round capacity for handguns?  The mag block would limit the mag to 10 rounds, please let me know

Should be fine long as block is "permanent" and installed before bringing into hawaii.

So if I installed the mag block using lock title and left it in place, that would be okay?  Or jut install it without lock tite?

must be a permanent fix. Just sticking a piece in between the spring is not a permanent fix.

A) don't bring any mags when you register your guns.

B) permanently affix (epoxy, etc) a blocker to the follower or whatever part is the cheapest to replace when you move or the stupid mag law is repealed.

C) Enjoy

Why don't you buy some cheap magazines to modify and shoot with and "leave the original german mags on the mainland"  ww2 german mags go for a few hundred bucks.

Would the original magazines still be legal here if they were disassembled?

The "permanent" block is absolutely hilarious to me.  I took apart my VP9's magazines after I got my gun to see the block and the permanent fix is a piece of plastic that easily be filed down or broken off.

In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

It's indestructible plexiglass with epoxy.

Not readily restorable.

Not a bad idea, I might take it apart and store it  and fire my 10 rounders.  I am moving back for good and won't leave anything on mainland.  Gotta prep 35 guns for the trip and make sure they are in compliance, had to get rid of 12 that were not legal and I didn't feel like owning a bolt action AR and AK pistols or welding the mags to the receiver.  Mahalo, thanks for good info

Correct.
Called a parts kit.
Once you assemble it it would be illegal though.

Don't ruin any vintage mags.

Ps. I am not a lawyer.

the rivet method is the same, a drill or a pair of pliers can easily remove them.

Come on man.

Don't start.

Now they're going to come up with some other crap we have to do to our magazines.

My .02¢ if it can't be readily converted back who cares. If you had a 15 round mag that was blocked to 10 then someone were to ask (LEO or other) the capacity of the mag or if the mag was blocked then tried to load it and the capacity was 10 I doubt that it would go any further, you could have some chopsticks in there as long as it gets it done. In my mind mag blocks would more that fit the bill. Has anyone ever had their magazines disassembled by LEO to verify or to determine the blocking method?
