Excerpt:

The object is to control all political speech, first by taxing and regulating political speech off the internet. While the actual regulations are a tightly held secret, the fact the regulations Obama sent the FCC for implementation is 323 pages long, includes new taxes disguised as fees; and will limit internet speeds to, according to sources in government, speeds that will preclude streaming video.

The regulations Obama sent the Federal Election Commission essentially makes any “political speech” subject to Federal election laws. Including gigantic fines for even the most trivial offense – imposed by one of the most easily offended of Federal agencies. An agency whose mission is not to insure fair elections, but to insure the Democratic Partei remains in power.

Today's update:

FCC Chair Refuses to Testify before Congress ahead of Net Neutrality Vote

Two prominent House committee chairs are “deeply disappointed” in Federal Communications Commission chairman Tom Wheeler for refusing to testify before Congress as “the future of the Internet is at stake.”

Wheeler’s refusal to go before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday comes on the eve of the FCC’s vote on new Internet regulations pertaining to net neutrality. The committee’s chairman, Representative Jason Chaffetz (R., Utah), and Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Fred Upton (R., Mich.) criticized Wheeler and the administration for lacking transparency on the issue.

“So long as the chairman continues to insist on secrecy, we will continue calling for more transparency and accountability at the commission,” Chaffetz and Upton said in a statement. “Chairman Wheeler and the FCC are not above Congress.”

Today's latest update: They (the FCC) passed it 3-2. If you like government intervention in your daily activities, for your own good, you'll be happy.

http://reason.com/blog/2015/02/26/the-fcc-just-voted-to-regulate-the-inter (Includes 31-minute video interview with Ajjit Pai, FCC Commissioner who voted against the 323-page "regulation".)

The FCC Just Voted to Regulate the Internet Like a Utility

Excerpts:

In a 3-2 vote today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to radically overhaul the way Internet service is regulated. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler and the commission’s two Democratic commissioners voted to move forward with the rules. The agency’s two GOP-appointed commissioners opposed them.

Under the new rules, broadband providers, long classified by the agency as Title I information services, will now be regulated as Title II telecommunications services—essentially making them public utilities, like the phone system.

Obama’s statement, itself somewhat atypical in its attempt to publicly influence an independent regulatory agency, followed a long, secret effort inside the White House, in which administration staffers acted, as The Wall Street Journal reported, “like a parallel version of the FCC.” Wheeler had been considering less restrictive rules, but changed his course after the president’s statement.

Today’s vote will mean that Wheeler’s proposal, which has been kept secret up until now, will finally be released to the public. And it likely means that the FCC will push forward with clarifying and implementing the as-of-yet-unknown-details of Wheeler’s proposal.

As Commissioner Pai told ReasonTV, the move is a “solution that won’t work to a problem that doesn’t exist.” It is a solution, however, that is now in place, and is sure to create some problems of its own.

Anyone get a chance to see the actual document, yet?

Or, is it another one of these shenanigans?

Exactly. It's been kept secret. It should be publicly available in the fairly near future. Coming to an internet near you! The general outlines are known, but not the specific details. Sound familiar?
