If I had roaches I'd do a better job of cleaning up after myself. I was one of those MealsOnWheels volunteers that delivered food to some tenants there. They are not the best stewards. Rubbish outside of dumpsters etc. I stopped volunteering after I realized that all of them had the means to get their own food. I mean c'mon if your adult kids are at home playing Xbox/PS3 they can certainly pick up meals for you.

Question isn't why these people are able to scam off the system...

Question should be why aren't you getting your piece of the pie.

Those are issues our elected official should be addressing instead of bowing to those in public assistance.
I'm not sure if being a vet has renewed a sense of self-reflection or a feeling that we as a country have taken things for granted for too long. The new norm seems that "making it" in this country is about learning to get things for less or no work - bringing forth nothing to this great country of ours but just reaping what everyone else before you had sown. I didn't grow up with a lot of things that my peers and friends have. My parents didn't help me with college or with getting my own place. The way I see it is that some of us are fortunate and some of us are not as fortunate and that in itself is perspective. An analogy would be boardgames like CandyLand. Some us are lucky to roll and get 10 steps forward while some of us only get 1. So the ones with the less lucky roll of the dice have to learn to sprint to catch up with everyone else. More work, more struggle but I feel that it creates stronger character.
