I have this for my Mossberg 590 with normal sling swivels:

http://www.blackhawk.com/Products/Stocks-Long-Gun-Accessories/Long-Gun-Accessories/Tactical-Slings/Shotgun-Shell-Sling.aspx

For my KSG, I needed something more adjustable and without swivel attachment, so I got this:

http://www.botach.com/kley-zion-quick-adjust-sling-shotgun-model-wide-shoulder-strap-pull-tab/

Blackhawk sling holds 15 shells, and the Key Zion holds 16.  Both are well made from milspec webbing, but don't have padding.

No complaints.  I could see  using the Key Zion  sling on the Mossberg, since its swivels are wide enough to thread the straps.

I also have one of the bandoliers that drapes over the shoulder and holds a bunch of shells.  I think it's from Blackhawk, but never used it.   Bought it in case I need to grab a bunch of bulky shells and move out.  It sits all loaded up in an ammo box .  FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY  :)

For the upcoming class you'll want something like or similar to this...

Slap and rip as you go through them.

some people use those "change maker" type things
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B008SYGU2C/?tag=2ahawaii-20
or the one in bota's post below
lots of people use the velcro strip kind and slap a new one on the shotgun to reload
like the one in the skd tactical link by bota
other people use the thigh rig kind that flap down and hold a ton of shells
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005EU4ZKW/?tag=2ahawaii-20
some belt carry or have it on their chest rigs
not many use bandoliers
a few have them on slings, but the hdf shotgun class specifically says no slings

Shotgun has side saddle but rest of the load out is set up dependent.  No plate carrier, slick with belt only, I run the AP Industries 3x3 and 2 Safariland double shotshell holders and a dump pouch with more primary shells.  Singles I will go to the saddle and then the Safariland doubles.  If I have time and room in the mag tube I will go to the 3x3's.  Safariland double shell holders will carry singles or for select loads (slug) will be set up on the primary side in front of the holster about 1 o'clock.

If I am running gear I still have the side saddle and I will have a molle carrier similar to this plus a dump pouch.  For either set up I will go to the dump pouch when there is time to tac up the other carriers.  Sometimes if the pace is quick loading is done from the dump pouch as last resort.

speedtek often has the AP industries shotshell holders at the gun show
his table is usually across from x-ring's in the back

got a 3x3 on order, my fingers too short for the 4 shells.  but what I'm really excited to try out are these "Load 2' carriers!  They make Load 4s too but again my fingers probably Too Short (coming straight from Oakland haha)

Assault Rifle? What I have here is an Anti-Assault Rifle.

For HD to everything else SHTF etc...

 *   Use a side saddle with  Esstac Shotgun Card with velcro stick on the receiver (once the card goes empty you can rip it off ad replace it with another one rather than refilling the side saddle)
 --- http://www.skdtac.com/Esstac-Shotgun-Card-p/ess.106.htm

*    12ga Micro-Rig

*      VTAC Shotgun Ammo Pouch  (Holds one standard box of shotgun rounds)

*California Competition Works Shell Caddy Tactical Shotshell Ammunition Carrier 12 Gauge 4 Round 2-3/4" and 3" Shells Polymer
---http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2394156343/california-competition-works-shell-caddy-tactical-shotshell-ammunition-carrier-12-gauge-4-round-2-3-4-and-3-shells-polymer

For competitions

*California Competition Works Shell Caddy Tactical Shotshell Ammunition Carrier 12 Gauge 4 Round 2-3/4" and 3" Shells Polymer
---http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2394156343/california-competition-works-shell-caddy-tactical-shotshell-ammunition-carrier-12-gauge-4-round-2-3-4-and-3-shells-polymer

* For the Load 2' carriers they are strictly for speed, indexing sacrificing ammo capacity

As for the bandoleer sling is good as to carry extra ammo but not good for reloads in a high stress situation, also weigh down the shotguns swing rate.

Thanks Surf for posting the 3x3s, been having fun playing around with a pair (after initially slicing my finger learning how not to strip the shells out lol).  The dual shell carrier is neat too and I have to practice dropping 2 in the 500 at a crack  -  shell opening needs mods (it's DREMEL TIME!  :D  )   New problem, too many different belts?  For emergency yeah just grabbing the shotgun and not suiting up so that velcro card + buttstock shell caddy are perfect.  Haven't received the Load2s yet but already tired of lifting spinning and flip flopping the shotgun every which way practicing like a dang baton and this is only an 18" and I grow old.

rswarrior1700 - wow check out that Micro-rig!  So much cool stuff out there.   We haven't even talked about mag feds (ridiculous looking extended stick mags though).
