You can if you want, I do not. Here is my thinking.
1. Hawaii is a very left leaning state, and many of your neighbors may be that type. They might feel threatened, afraid, anxious.... Might call the cops on you. At the least they come and question you about it. why go through that and become a watched target for those who are confused about self protection/responsibility?
2. While open carry might serve as a deterrent while you are on the premises, it may also make your place a target when you are not. Since we are not allowed to carry our firearms around with us during normal everyday activities, it is pretty much guaranteed 90% of the time the guns are at home for the thieves and chronics to grab.
Conceal carry at home is what I would recommend. There when you need it, discrete when you don't.
