In 2014, we took a summer trip to Scotland, Ireland, Wales. We made a point of stopping at, and sampling the wares of, each distillery we came across. In Scotland, that was a challenge. But we stumbled across Fettercairn distillery, and they make some delightful products, including Fior. According to the label, it's Gaelic for "fire." We brought a bottle back and shared it with Scotch friends at a John Burns party, then were sad that it was gone. So, I found a company to ship it here. Pricey, so it had to be for a special occasion.
For Christmas 15, I ordered in a bit.
Same for this year.
I guess that qualifies for a tradition! Anyway, the rules are simple. No more than 2 drams in an evening, but no more than 1 dram unless there's call. Everything after that has to be less expensive. Tonight, I chased my dram with Hellcat Maggie. I'm sure that I'm violating some cosmic balance by chasing Scotch with Irish Whisky, but my tongue loves them both, and my stomach kinna tell th' differance!
