God, guns, and guts made America. Let's keep all three!

I was thinking you could really improve your time in 3-gun by eliminating that time-consuming trigger pulling!  Aim - rack -aim -rack....

He said, "Never load a gun  in the house."

I'm really "antsy" about manipulating guns in the house, but it is necessary sometimes to load or unload them or whatever.  I finally took a bunch of old obsolete books and filled a 36" bookshelf with them instead of throwing them out.  The side of the bookshelf is exposed, and I use that at a "safe direction." I figure almost nothing I own will penetrate a yard of old books.

Yes, Virginia, there is a use for old DOS, WordPerfect, and other software manuals.

I do believe that the radical and crazy notion that the Founders meant what they said, is gradually soaking through the judicial system.

I think I am going to make me one of  'em one day.

...
i use a metal can with a steel plate on the bottom. Fill it with old phone books.
Sand is way better but I gotta get to a secluded beach to steal some.
I would not use a plastic 5 gal bucket because plastic gets brittle and cracks.
I use my bullet trap routinely when developing experimental pistol loads.
Primarily, it's used to determine my min and max powder charge for unlisted load combos.
It only takes a few shots to figure it out.

What, Me Worry?

I used a sand bucket when I had my shop and would have to test out loads 'n things.  Rural locale, no problem with noise.

Some comments:

He shoulda had some bubble-pack to step on to imitate the crackles of the aerial fireworks.  (nyuck-nyuck-nyuck)

Firing straight down does reduce pressure and velocity.  Not much, but it does.

It pays (experience talking here) to put a piece of plastic or something over the bucket to reduce splash-back.

Now that I don't have a shop I just use my bookshelf as a "safe direction."  In my Senior Citizen's apartment, I certainly don't use it for actual testing.  Ooooooh, pretty red and blue blinky  lights outside.  Ooooooo.

I remember reading on the old packing dot org website about how many CCW-ers pointed their guns at a mattress in the bedroom as a "safe direction," and how many had to replace their mattresses.

And fix the hole in the floor, too, anyway.

Mr. Farknocker

A bucket is what I recall my handgun safety training instructor recommended. Nice to see a demo vid of how that works. Just throw an old shirt on top of the sand to help contain the sand.

Heavies

Awesome share!  I think many don't consider something like this ever happening.  Good thing to ponder.

Yeah, and I also don't load a newly-obtained semiauto with more than two live rounds for the first couple of shots.
