I've always had a nagging question about lightening cuts to a slide...

Aside from the aesthetics, do the lightening cuts (and corresponding weight reduction) in the slide, impact or affect the cycling of the handgun?

i would think that lightening the slide a lot would require changing the recoil spring
i assume the recoil spring is tuned to the weight of the slide

No, I think you're right. Why would anybody want to shoot reduced loads in a gun like that? Steel challenge?
