Hello fellow 2Ahawaii. finally bought today my 1st 1911 by Rock Island Armory 9mm single stack from OGC Tactical for $399. just wondering what else I can do for it. any suggestion? of course I will buy my holster and mag pouch next.

Having problems? What will you use it for? Lots of possibilities with a 1911 design. Tighten up the rails, trigger work, checkering on straps etc.

Improving the fit between the slide and the frame rails. One way to improve accuracy. Another is to tighten up the barrel bushing, barrel lockup etc. Each process improves accuracy. Of course if you want a combat gun there is some sacrifice.

Could that abbreviation stand for:

SS = Stainless Steel
FO = Fiber Optic Sights

??

ah maybe. it comes with adjustable rear and fiber optic front sight and Adam from OGC said it comes with 3 single stack mag

Okay, then SS is likely "Single Stack", not "Stainless Steel"

Looks pretty shootable as is.
If the trigger is decent, then leave it alone.
Most times it needs a trigger job tho....

I've got two RIA 1911s.  The first, I put an extended beavertail safety on it because I use it for a class gun, and hammer bite is an awful treat for a new shooter.  The wood grips were so nice that I replaced them with rubber Pachmayr grips, so that students wouldn't scratch up my nice wood.  If I had bought it primarily for myself, I wouldn't have bothered with either of those mods because the gun shot just fine without!

1st mod for me on a handgun is usually grips.
mostly for the aesthetics, but could add some function too.

i bought a set of magpul grip panels from x-ring last time they were on special. my 1991a1 had a big houge wraparound grip that was on it when I bought it. I prefer/like the grip panels better. Most local shops will have some kinda grips for 1911's.
