Well said. On a side note with Time Warner now legally required to keep records for the activity of all it's users for a year plus the fact that Secret Service is in charge of security at APEC I would be a lot more careful about having discussions of when it's okay to start killing law enforcement. I hope you guys are using some serious encryption. Also in the battle of public perception over 2a this is not an effective way to make a good impression.

Do you run around all day thinking about this stuff or are you on a conspiracy theory mailing list. The Secret Service is in charge of APEC because it is the US and BHO will be attending. Standard Practice. Do you think they have time to search proxy records and logs?

Anwar ALanwar al-awlaki lost his rights as a "citizen" when he became a radical muslim terorrist and set up shop in another country. He became a TERRORIST and a threat. The action was appropriate IMHO.

This, mostly. I do agree with HB that these sorts of discussions are bad for the public image of gun owners. However, I also feel that one of the reasons this right is protected at all is as a last resort against tyranny. Therefore, refusing to discuss topics of this nature based on the possibility that a thin-skined sheeple somewhere might take offense is silly; like pretending that although we have an army, we only use it for sport, or maybe in case somebody invades the US. If people are going to get offended, they're going to get offended, end of story.
As for having Federal Orlocks come digging up through our living room floors and dragging us back down into their underworld, unlikely at best. There are plenty of actual, concrete threats against persons under the protection of the Secret Service to keep them busy. A hypothetical discussion about what point we would step off the soap box, away from the ballet box, and pick up the bullet box in response to violations of Constitutional rights is pretty low on the list of priorities for them. Additionally, BHO and company supports this kind of talk. Rebellion in Libya and Egypt, unwashed punks "occupying Wall Street", and teachers' unions destroying government property in Madison have been constant headlines all summer, and the left has consistently crowed, "This is what democracy looks like! This is how the system works!" [sarcasm] Apparently we're going about this the wrong way. We need to stop these orderly lawsuits, disciplined protests, and civil debates on the internets and descend on city hall en masse. Camp out on the lawn, get a few people arrested, shout and yell, and by God, get shit done. That's how the system works! [/sarcasm]
