Has human aggression really gotten worse? I'm not so sure about that. I would hazard a guess that we have gotten less aggressive or that at least in the context of civilization we have learned to control the aggression better.

hard to say

over hundreds of thousands of years, the MOST aggressive USUALLY were the most successful and therefore passed their genes along

this could mean financial aggression also (if you show no mercy, you could exploit lots of people as long as it is not yet made illegal - think plantations)

so, that sort of indicates where humanity is headed (compassion is penalized, at least in such a social system)
