Never drink and drive and never clean your gun while drinking.

"...a strong odor of liquor on his breath".

Sounds about right.  If you're going to sit around cleaning guns while wasted, I have no sympathy.  This is the kind of carelessness the anti-gun crowd points to to prove regular law-abiding people can't be trusted with firearms.

Glad his brother is alive.  The Cops probably didn't get much reading on the man's breathalyzer ... nothing sobers you up quicker than a gun going off in small spaces while cleaning it!!

At least the article says he accidentally pressed the trigger and not "the gun just fired"

I also didn't hear about this one.  This sort of stuff makes me wonder which neighbors around me are into firearms.

Althought  ATF stands for Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is doesn't necessarily mean to combine the particular ingredients together. Booze and guns just do not mix well; booze after guns,Okay; Booze with guns NOT Okay.
Tobacco and reloading don't always mix either; smoking, NOT Okay; chawwing , Okay.

We still have some of our rights remaining, let's all try to exercise them responsibly.

I blame that kachi kachi music.........
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

I think what boost is getting at is that he wonders if he could be accidentally shot by one of his neighbors whom has a gun in a similar fashion to the story in the OP.

BINGO!!!  Of the 6 neighbors around me, I know 4 that never give the "pro gun" vibe, the other 2 I rarely talk to.  Granted, I live in an area where it's common to hear some poacher taking advantage of the nearby golf course and large acres of ag land.
