While CCW does work this had nothing to do with concealed carry.  The perp was an intruder and their guns were in the nightstand, more like home defense.
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

I don't remember this gal at all from KHON.

Lynne Russell was a reporter at KHON before she left to CNN.  Funny, a reporter at such a liberal and anti-gun news organization as CNN, had a gun handy for self defense.
Humm.........

Case for CCW, they were staying at a Motel 6, not at home.  Now if they had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express..... .

Most amazing fact in this story to me is - they were going from DC to California, and they thought having a gun was a good idea!

They must not have been assimilated.....

I'd say typical leftist hypocrites....  we can, but you can't mentality.  Hope I'm wrong.

If you watched Joe Moore "reporting" on this incident last night, you saw him verbally dance around the whole issue of the husband using a (presumably) legal handgun to defend himself and his wife against a violent, armed criminal. While he alluded to the "gunfight" (maybe it was "gun battle"...) he never actually mentioned that the husband used his gun.

Seems they were much more interested in reporting on the fact the wife was a former KHON reporter than a citizen lawfully used a gun to thwart a violent crime....

If you notice, the link on KHON's webpage goes to the local news in New Mexico rather than Joe's report from last night....

They don't  seem to understand, without the gun the couple traveled with, the headline could have very easily been:

Former KHON2 anchor & husband shot, killed by armed robber at Albuquerque motel

As the media's motto is if it bleeds it leads, the correct title would be.........
Former KHON2 anchor & husband murdered by gun wielding assassin.  She was also raped prior to her murder.

He was in the shower when the perp slipped in. He hopped out the shower and was buck.  Props to chuck de Caro. He got some serious cajones, taking 2 shots to the abs, and I hope he winds up healthy.
If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready.

I posted a comment about the manner in which Joe Moore danced around the undeniable fact that a good guy used a gun to defend himself (and his wife) against a violent, armed criminal....surprise, the moderator wouldn't let it be posted. I just tried again...let's see if they'll deny another post....

I am actually surprised this sort of news was actually posted on various news stations and websites, since it was a positive for the would be victims and CCW.  Like mentioned, it seems as though the only reason it was mentioned as both would be victims had affiliations with CNN, only Hawaii news sites mentioned she has worked for KHON in the past.

Humm.........
Seem's she has more skills than news anchor

When she wasn't working at the CNN anchor desk she worked as an investigator - sometimes in disguise.
She is also a black-belt martial artist and showed us some of her hand-to-hand fighting skills back in 1995.

Update on the dead robber ...

Quote
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The man fatally shot by a former CNN reporter at an Albuquerque motel had fled parole in Tennessee, police said Thursday.

Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Tanner Tixier (tih-SHAY) said that Tomorio Walton had absconded from parole out of Memphis and it wasn't clear how long he had been in New Mexico.

That should teach others ... never abscond when you're on parole!

“The discussion over the debate to own a gun is just ridiculous. As Americans we have the right to bear arms and as humans the right to protect ourselves. I’m sure that the man who shot my husband did not have a gun permit. Criminals will always have guns. The rest of us legally obtain our gun permits.”
