Make your decision before you buy a ticket.  If they have a sign posted they may search you, and you buy a ticket, you are consenting to search.

If you refuse after buying a ticket, they can refuse you entry to the theater AND they are not required to offer you a refund.

Fourth amendment only protects you against illegal government search and seizure.  A private business can implement any policies they want for security searches, and you have the choice to agree to the conditions or not buy a ticket.

Enjoy the show!!

Zing!
"The rifle is a weapon. Let there be no mistake about that. It is a tool of power, and thus dependent completely upon the moral stature of its user. It is equally useful in securing meat for the table, destroying group enemies on the battlefield, and resisting tyranny. In fact, it is the only means of resisting tyranny, since a citizenry armed with rifles simply cannot be tyrannized."

True, but when they don't follow their rules to the "T" and search 100% and search the 100% in the same consistent manner...........here come the lawsuits.

I thought backpacks had always been banned, to prevent you from sneaking food in. Guess I was out of the loop and should have snuck food in while I had the chance.

they have the right to search your bags, but you have to make them suspicious first.  and the ushers do NOT care.

that said, its easier if you can still pass for a college student where having a backpack would make sense.

On second thought, this "new" policy or renewed enforcement is only their to protect their food concession as their profit margins are bigger.
I went to the Dole Cannery theaters to see Prometheus and GF and I were lamenting ice cream. To our amusement and surprise the employee gave us a very heaping serving of ice scream. We had to get a popcorn box to contain the overflow. We had more than our moneys worth and the employee was laughing

Dat's some baggy pants!  Gotta be careful if you sleep with those pants some critters don't crawl in and snuggle with you.

Can land from a 10 story building with dem pants as long as you keep movin'.   O0

Oh yeah did you guys know they stopped giving out those brown cardboard popcorn boxes at Dole? Dunno about Regal in general. I read complaints online then I went recently and they were true. Why did they do that?

It's just another business capitalizing on of an incident to make a profit. Just like the airline's ban on liquid and the stadium's ban on cans and bottles. Theaters have wanted to ban bags and knapsacks from the beginning because patrons use them to bring their own snacks instead of paying confiscatory prices for a lousy bag of popcorn and soda.  I made the decision to invest my money in a home theater system and subscribe to Netflix many years ago when I went on a date and spent $30 for a pair of movie tickets, refreshment and parking (when I had no money) and realizing that my money was going to support actors who exploit violence with firearms while supporting the liberal agenda of disarming America.
