Enjoy.

^^^Two morals:

1). Don't hunt with Dick Cheney.
2). Make sure your friend knows how to shoot straight.

Talk about a rock and a hard place: get mauled by a bear, or get shot by your friend?

No. Make sure the animal is dead and make sure you can tell a grizzly from a black bear.  And make sure you have a caliber rifle large enough to dispatch the top predator in the area you are hunting, not just the top freezer filler.

My EDC on the mainland is 40SW or 45 ACP,  my carry when hunting....44 REM MAG in 340 grn.
Relax, I've banned myself..

I'm gonna go with "never hunt something that can hunt you."

A very good point, that is lost on the novice hunter. But I'm not sure how it applies to the story as no caliber is mentioned.

Suffered?

Cheney wrote a book based of the shooting incident that has sold millions of copies.

Look it up, it's entitled, "How to shoot someone and get away with it"
