Courses and professors such as this are already commonplace throughout our nation. There is eventually going to be a battle over this topic in the federal court system. Our own University of Hawaii has punished students for supporting the 2nd Amendment in recent years, so if these issues trouble you, keep a lookout on the horizon.

For now it appears that the courts' position is that professors can require anything of their students that they want. They can force students to write "The 2nd Amendment must be repealed" if they want to. But what if a professor asks students their position on the 2nd Amendment, claiming that they are free to answer as they wish, then fails any student who writes that they support it?

The professor should not be allowed to teach as her course title is "Women & Popular Culture" uses verbiage that  she claims is supposedly "oppressive & hateful language," (i.e., male, female, men, women: gender identity terms).  But, wait!  The university allows her to do this (be a hypocrite) since she suffers from a mental disorder . . .  :(

Although I joke, I am completely disgusted with the increase in the stupid politically correct thinking of liberals.  Soon we will be calling convicted criminals "socially challenged and misunderstood person" since "criminal" is oppressive & hateful language."

I definitely do not plan to support these asshat universities/colleges when my kids decide to go to college . . .

I hope this doesn't make be a bad father but I kinda look forward to the day where my kids come home with some political message and I send them back with an opposing view and they get into a debate with the teacher or other kids.

Maybe I am just wishing I knew more back when I was in school and could have stood up when they taught something that was slanted. I had a small argument about gun control in high school but I just didn't know enough back then to represent my position very well. Especially in college I wish I had a better understanding.

Well if you tried to debate gun control in either high school or college you might be instantly expelled...we are in pretty dark times right now when it comes to education and politics. But I'm all for your mentality, we just have to be willing to file the necessary lawsuits afterwards, then support each other as jury members.

I'd love to have a student sue the professor and school for infringement of first amendment rights.  Some dumb shits. It's too bad Washington state has so much crazies now. It was a good place.

Not sure if it would fly in a classroom unless the student were shushed where other students were allowed to give their opinion.

I remember doing a current events article in high school and I picked a gun rights article. Some of the classmates gave me a hard time (which they might have done on any topic) but the teacher didn't interfere or try to control the conversation.

I would routinely use that "forbidden vocabulary" during class and in my exams whenever the opportunity is presented.  After the grades come out, assuming my grade is lower than A+, I'd report the teacher for unfairly lowering my grade (whether that was obvious or not).  I'd put the teacher on the spot!!

Teachers can't threaten to lower a grade for something this stupid and not be reported and scrutinized.  I'd file a formal complaint with examples of when I used the terms in question.  It would be VERY difficult for the teacher to support the grade I got as long as there were subjective areas included in the grading criteria.

If there are any essay questions on the exams or writing assignments, that grading contains lots of room for subjective evaluation and grading.  Also group participation and anything else that is up to the teacher's arbitrary grades. 

I'd call into question the validity of, and motives behind, the rules, and then ask for an automatic grade increase since there would be no way for the teacher to split hairs over why my grade was given.

If I knew I could watch the girls in PE change clothes and shower, I'd have told my teachers I was a woman trapped in a man's body, too!!

I bet there would have been a rather large population of us "gender mis-identified" boys taking girl's PE class!!  :P
