Well if you want a  AK style mostly Russian rifle for that kind of price now is the time.  Not sure which parts are USA made.
KVAR always seem to be out of the SGL-21/26 rifles and their price is almost twice.  Surprising that Russian parts still able to get in the U.S. especially after Vlad has repeatedly dissed Barry.
Russian presence in Syria will make getting Russian stuff more scarce.

Tell me about it.

I've been wanting to get the VEPR 54R in 16" barrel, but they are no where to be found these days  :(

Aim Surplus has been receiving those in various length barrels about every month or three.  Usually the shortest barrel is 20", but they may get 16" one day.

I have them email me when back in stock.  They sell out almost immediately.  Gotta be speedy!  They seem to get all length models in at the same time, and the popular lengths sell out before the others.

Will the us ak47 be compatible with the magpul sutff? Im kind of a magpul whore. Been wanting to do an ak since their new stuff came out. Almost screwed up and ordered an o-pap. I read online that those wont work because of how the hardware is mounted? Sorry im a noob at this. Held aks, never owned or shot one yet. But i like the price of the ammo. I read the wasr-10 can take the upgrades, but ive only read bad things about the wasr and the i.o. rifles.

I had an I.O. AK and didn't like it.
It seemed like every AK magazine ever made wobbled in it.
It shot average for an AK but for some reason it just never felt "right".
I sold it.

WASR's on the other hand really aren't that bad.
They went through a rough time with extremely canted sights and/or rough edges but today's stuff seems downright... good.
As many WASR's as I've handled in my life and I've honestly had quite a bunch, I've never had a malfunction with one.

My favorite AK's are the Bulgarian ones, as they seem to be the best made, as far as I can tell.
The russian VEPR is second place in my opinion, but if you do get a VEPR, get the one with the threaded barrel.

I haven't shot that US AK47 yet, but it looks nice.

This is why I've been cautious about buying an AK, I'm afraid of buying a lemon.  I've been trying to do my homework and finding out there is a QC problem with the AK in general.  Between Canted sights, bad Rivets, ill-ftted Magazines, I'm not a rich man I can't afford to purchase a money pit.  I was kinda hoping Kalashnikov USA would alleviate these GC problems, we'll see I guess.

Good, basic review of different AK-47 importers/builders & how they compare.  A few years old, so take it for what it's worth.

IO was TERRIBLE; can't believe I took the plunge on that piece of crap.

The video I posted actually gave me the confidence to pick up an arsenal on sale 2 years ago at OGC.  I avoided the cheaper, lesser quality AK's and went for the "Cadillac" in the review.

I've not been disappointed.  Everyone who shoots it falls in love with it!  It's one of my best rifles.  Not to mention the benefit of it ejecting brass toward 2 o'clock so I don't have to sweep it! :)

Thanks, I've actually seen a lot of these and learned a lot.  I especially like AK Operators Union and Rifle Dynamics.  I'll probably wait til November and head down to OGC for an Arsenal or ask them to help me pick something else.

My BIL pick up 2 AK USA. Got Craig from RL to check it out. He gave a thumbs up. No difference from the regular Saiga, even the marking show Russia. Converted by RWC.  Good price for any upgrade project.

Alright!   Russian receivers may be impossible to get in the future in the U.S.
