Can I respectfully ask what positions in each of these groups you do not agree with?

I certainly don't agree with all positions,  but I believe in the bigger picture they will do more to support my freedoms than hinder.  Just as in a political realm, I do not support all GOP positions, but in the bog picture they stand a better chance of winning and a better chance for change in a direction I support.

One will never be completely in agreement with another person 100% all the time.  It's an impossibly.

I don't remember the specifics but there was something from a while ago that I remember rubbed me the wrong way.

Having said that, I was not as attentive to the gun rights debate back then as I am now and that is why I said I have been considering it recently

I have only one thing to say about your SAYING you are pro 2A and not doing and/or showing that you actually do support 2A.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!

So far all you have done is make excuses why you don't join. Then you say you can't remember why. If it was that important to keep you from joining, you would remember IMHO. And if you can't even remember, what's stopping you right now?

I'll tell you what, I'll make you deal. If you immediately join the NRA and send me proof of membership, and you send me your name, address, phone number and e-mail address I will pay for your first year membership in the HRA. Merry Christmas.  :shaka:

Let us know your decision.

I am not nor have I ever been a member. But I have been considering it as of late.

I am hesitant in party part because I am frugal but also because I am not sure I agree with all of their positions. It is something I need to research more.

The threat asked for a reason why those here haven't joined the NRA. I gave mine. I am not running around making excuses here. I gave my answer to the question I was asked, simple as that.

Beyond that I said that I have also been considering membership at this point I just have to research a few things first

I appreciate your generosity but I will pass on that offer. When I finish researching the NRA, HDF, and HRA, I will decide which ones I will support and I will write the checks. More meaningful that way anyway.

Although, that duffle bag looks pretty cool ;)

1.  What questions do you need to "research?"

2.  Do you not trust the current members on here to give you the correct answers to your questions?  Why not ask?  It would save you from having to research and maybe get the wrong info.

3.   Have you contacted the organizations directly to get more information?

4.  You do understand that the longer you wait, the more urgently they need your support.  Waiting to join only hurts the 2A cause and helps the anti-2A supporters.

5.  What do you think is the worst thing that can happen?  Not much risk on the downside at all.

The problem is you still have not answered the question even though you state you did. You say you don't agree with something about them but can't remember what it is. What kind of an answer is that? This is a rhetorical question. The answer is that it is NOT an answer to say I don't remember what I disagree with them about but I disagreed with something.   Tell us the REAL reason. A true explanation would include the real reason you disagree with them. Otherwise all you are doing is posting to see yourself post. So far all you have said in a nutshell is you are not a member. You have not told us WHY which has to include the reason WHY. Not you forgot the reason. I don't care what the reason is, I just want to know WHY. Which have yet to state because you can't remember.

And who would it be more meaningful to? Do you really think anyone here or NRA/HRA really cares where the money comes from? (as long as it is not obtained illegally) It is meaningless who writes the check.  >:D

So I offer you a free membership in the NRA and the HRA. That way you can take the next year to figure out what it is you disagree with them about and can decide if you want to renew your memberships. Merry Christmas!  :shaka:

Have you actually met other forum members...ever?

EEF, Maybe tell us exactly what you want to see implemented or repealed in gun control policy, and maybe we can go through it and see what each organization's ideas on these policies are?

Research? or Read about?
When doing research you formulate a hypothesis, gather data and come to a conclusion.
Well, this is America. You have the freedom to choose to join or not.
unfortunately, our basic right is under attack and I am compelled to join a private organization to defend it.
If you choose not to join you could help the effort by educating people about what is right about firearms. bring a new shooter to the range

NRA Life member, HRA Life member, HDF member (I think, may have expired...) GOA Life member, JPFO member, NAGR member

You will never agree 100% with any large organization, but if you have significant issues with a particular position, why not actually participate in the process to influence that decision? Be it NRA, HRA, HDF, GOA, JPFO, NAGR etc., if you don't agree jump in and get involved...the perception, of some, which isn't entirely incorrect, is that we gun owners like to talk a lot about what's wrong with things, be it our own advocacy groups, legislative agendas, or other local issues, but do very little in terms of taking actual action....

Im a current life member of the NRA since 2014. Only thing that got me to join was even though it might be little. I hate having monthly bills. I opted for the 250ish one time payment because i have enough payments already ( credit cards, 401k, cell bill, insurance, etc.) I am interested in joining the hra. Do they offer one time payments to join? Can you online join online or is there someplace locally?

I've been a life member since 1989, I think.

I've since upgraded my membership further.

I believe they have a lifetime member that can be done in one payment. I don't know how much it is though. I googled their webpage and it had the prices on it.

Variety of options to choose in Annual Membership.  This is just for regular 12-month membership, one member only.

I had let my membership lapse because I was tired of the non-stop calls asking for more money. I understand why they do it, but I got too many early morning calls waking me up and I got pissed.

However, I renewed my membership today. I hope they pay attention to the time difference from now on.

You can adjust your contact options somewhere and that should take care of the calls. When I get to a computer I'll see if I can't find where it is for you. I haven't gotten call one in the last two years however I do get emails and the occasional letter mail.

Thank you Mauiboi9
for considering to join HRA. I hope you do and welcome you as a member.

Thank you Mauidog
for posting the link to HRA membership, getting the word out, and helping make it easier for people to join

A special kudos to Inspector for going above and beyond in supporting our 2A rights, and the NRA and HRA by offering someone who likes to 'talk-the-talk' but not 'walk-the-walk' by offering free NRA and HRA membership.
Your offer is a stellar example of how passionate we all should be about defending our 2A rights.

Remember...United we stand, divided we fall.
