No group for fireworks rights. Few arrests in this illegal activity. Obvious violations all over the island on NYE. Permits don't work. I couldn't find those aerial fireworks at Don Qijote, Longs, Walmart as they are illegal. But Hawaii residents still found them! If only the same residents felt the same about 2A RIGHTS! Imagine the possibilities.

Corruption at all levels is all I can say. We live on an island how hard would it be to keep these fireworks out? A lot of people look the other way and take their cut as this contraband is allowed through. If it's so easy to get mass quantities of explosives through the ports who's to say terrorists can't get actual explosives or just repurpose the fireworks.

The amount of illegal fireworks going off near my place could have demolished some shet, if bad guys had that notion...

We just figured that all fireworks bans might have been revoked...

I wonder what President Obama thought of fireworks while he was here...

Oh what fun we used to have with only the novelty fireworks (ground bloom flowers w/ report, crackling balls)

But I really miss thefirecrackers throw packs, what fun it was to see who could toss em in the air so that none of the firecrackers would reach the ground...  ::)  good times, good times

Makes sense that if you want fireworks and they are all illegal, you would go for the aerials.  When the ground blooms, sparklers, crackling balls were still legal, didn't see as much aerials.  Guess if you are going criminal, might as well go for the gusto.

At face value it seems easy, but if you're talking about someone going into every single 40' or 20' container that comes into the state that's a lot of work.  Also figure that the containers have minimal storage space so the shippers need to rotate and move the containers as much as possible.

Most of the big guys are all ro-ro (roll on-roll off) meaning the containers sit on chassis.  It's not like 10 years or so ago where you have forklifts moving and stacking containers.

So hard to do and very hard to do within the time constraints.

No need to go in each container they can X-Ray each container after it comes off the ship and goes on the truck/chassis. Most international ports and a fair amount of military bases have scanners made by Rapiscan or similar devices by another company. http://www.rapiscansystems.com/en/products/cvi
Scan everything then only physically inspect suspect containers.
Matson and Pasha do have ro-ro service but not usually for containerized cargo. On container ships the cargo is stacked then those huge dockside cranes lift them and place them on a waiting chassis below.

I didn't order the sub caliber kit yet but soon enough

I know a few people that work at the docks, and they said you could smell it in the air at the piers.

Hasn't a new law passed to allow novelty fireworks again?
