What Are Your Long Term Goals for Your Life?
« on: January 08, 2016, 07:00:36 AM »
I am just curious what are some of your long term goals for your life?

My life is about 75% over so I am getting close to realizing my ultimate long term lifetime goals. My long term goal is to have complete financial freedom for myself and my wife so I no longer have to work (Unless I choose to). I want to have enough time and money to travel any where I feel like once or twice a year and visit my family on the mainland once or twice a year. I expect I will see this come to fruition in about 4-5 years. I am working hard to make it happen sooner but I doubt it.

I realize that the different generations have different ideals, goals and life choices. And different expectations towards life. So I am curious what all of you are working hard towards in your lives?

I have similar goals as you stated Inspector, and have been working hard to try to get there.   Right now, however, it seems like a kill fight, when the harder I work, and the more money I make, that money gets taken by the thieving system, and redistributed to those that, in my eyes, don't deserve a damn thing.  Or it goes to useless multi billion dollar projects that do nothing to better society, yet line the pockets of those same thieving 'leaders' and crooked unions.    More and more lately, I've been trying to make some sort of difference in that realm, trying to get people to wake up and change the system, so that maybe my kids will be able to achieve their goals through hard work and perseverance, as opposed to mooching off others and expecting handouts.   I just hope that my small insignificant role makes a difference somehow.

The way it looks right now, if I where to stay in Hawaii, I'm going to have to work till the day I die.

I've reached the age where my long term goals are now short term goals.

But seriously, I'd lke to be able to do the same as inspector.
But I'd ike to work for as long as I can because I actually enjoy working at my job most of the time.
And I can see if I don't have a catalyst to ignite me in the morning, I'll just waste away.

Very similar.  I have just recently closed a chapter in my life where service came first.  A modest and good lifestyle, with great personal feeling of fulfillment and emotional reward.  With that commitment I ensured a certain amount of stability to myself and my family, a good safety net so to speak.  But it is now time to put all of the families needs and goals as a higher priority, while still doing good things, perhaps just being compensated a bit better at the same time.

So now I am attempting to enter into the thriving phase where ensuring my long term financial future for myself and my family is a much bigger priority.  To be completely debt free, be it housing (mortgages), transportation (vehicles), credit cards, college tuitions, travel etc, without incurring debt to do the things we chose to do.  Hoping to secure enough financial freedoms so that myself and my wife are not someone else's financial burden in our final years.

Moving into this new phase means that I will need to work harder than before, but all of that work is now in my hands or in my pocket, to make with it what I choose.  I paid my dues, learned my craft, paid up in full and now it is up to me to take my life wherever it goes from here.  If all goes well I won't need to spend the next 26 years of my life working to get the end of that phase.  Not a single regret from the past and the future is mine to make.  Exciting, yet a bit apprehensive at the same time, but I eagerly move forward!

Well the obvious has been stated in all the response so far. So I gonna speak in terms of business. I have successfully navigated the first 3 stages (ie. Create, execute, survival) in the success phase currently  and now moving on to the next stage which is take off followed by my exit strategy. My exit strategy is to convert my current position which is considered retail into a distribution and that's my exit strategy on my long term goals. In a time frame of 5 to point of distribution and 10 be exited.

I expect to be around to get squashed by Swift-Tuttle when it returns.  I figure I'll have 3-4 more careers along the way.
