Cook County Jail Locked down due to lack of staff

What happens to jail and prison occupants if apocolyptic events (i.e. zombies, war, complete economic meltdown, emp, catastrophic asteroid) occur outside the walls?

Season 4 of the walking dead offered a glimpse of what could happen at a prison but what are the procedures for when societal collapse occurs and workers can't get there?
If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready.

Hawaii Corrections has been going through similar situaions, mainly on weekends which impact visitations...

Jail visitations cancelled for a day due to staff shortage

No visitors allowed.

That was the case at two jails today. One on Oahu, the other on the Big Island, because they both didn’t have enough workers.

There are hundreds of jobs to fill at the Department of Public Safety.

The state is training people now, hoping to fill those vacancies.

“Is it something that happens often?” KHON2 asked.

“Yes, I am told it is a recurring problem at times,” said Sen. Will Espero, (D) Ewa, Ewa Beach.

Sen. Espero says he’s heard about jail workers who constantly call in sick.

“This is not a new issue. It’s come up a year ago, two years ago, four years ago,” he said.

People out on sick leave, and jobs that haven’t been filled, caused a crunch on staffing at Oahu and Hawaii Community Correctional Centers.

An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.   -- Jeff Cooper

Corrections officers didn't make those Corruptions stickers and clothing for nothing.

""Any time you have almost  half the staff  of a facility calling in sick on Super Bowl, it has to be a cause for concern," said State Rep. "

Wooooooooooooooooooooooow

and there were no consequences for these so called sick individuals?

Let us save ourselves of the fuss:

"I, King Yurcarmeean, hereby decree Super Bowl Sunday to be a National Holiday of the United States of America, and the World in general, and everybody can have that day off, that way we won't have people lying about being sick, but you better come to my Super Bowl Party or else I'm gonna make that Sunday just a regular Sunday, plus I got a 70" UltraHD TV last Black Friday, plus I'll have my famous Nachos, bring beer. "
If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready.
