Looks like the local match is set for the Royal Hawaiian Shooting Club in Waikiki. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9-11am.

Please move this thread to the Competitions section.

Registration began 15 January. I'll be calling RHSC today when they open to find out the details, but I figure that they will promote this to make money and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday mornings are their slowest days and times. $20 for each entry per the American Marksman website.

According to the website, the actual shooting will start 1 March. You may enter as many times as you want at the local level.

I called Royal Hawaiian Shooting Club and they don't have any more details than what is on the website.

There are categories for Junior, Men, Women, Military and Law Enforcement. Eligibility is limited to true amateurs. If your are part of a shooting team, or have placed in the top 10% of a sanctioned competition, then you are not eligible.

The grand prize is $50,000.

This would be a great venue for a true amateur like myself to learn about competitive shooting. I could use the $50k or any sub prizes of that.

ren-
several of us started doing hawaii practical shooters matches late last year
and there are a few other 2ahi members that are regulars
it's relatively low-key and fun
long, hot days, but you learn a lot
mostly, we try to be safe and not DQ
 ::)
first match is free, you should check it out some time
you have to look at the schedule to see if the event has a 101 class, which is required for first timers

On second thought, I'll boycott this as there aren't enough Asian shooters who won shooting awards over the history of America.

You should have entered Top Shot. Prize was $100,000

Gabby Franco got a job shooting for Remington even though she was eliminated from the competition.
