ICYMI: Bill would require firearm liability insurance, periodic firearm renewals (Read 16983 times)

can they bilk anymore money from citizens who abide by the law. How about stupidity insurance or liability insurance for bicycles or wheelchairs..... AHHH cmon! :wtf:

I think they need to pass a law where you need insurance (and a drivers license) for those motorized shopping carts in stores.  Some of the people driving them don't give a sh!t about other shoppers and try to mow you down in the aisles.  I guess they think they have the right-of-way.  Wal-mart is especially dangerous... :shake:

Doesn't homeowners insurance already cover this type of thing?

well i guess i will actually answer the question then lol.

Most home owners insurance policys come with  $100k in Personal liability protection which would/should (check your policy) cover firearms related injury/damage

Without seeing the wording of the law and knowing the $$$ limits required i couldn't answer if that would satisfies the requirements,

THAT BEING SAID, It will never happen, it will get shot down as unconstitutional in a heartbeat.

Instead of everybody going around and around on all this, one of the things that needs to be done is to vote all these people out of office. A lot People here in this state are like sheep they don't wont to rock the boat so they follow each other right into the slaughter house every election year.  We have a Governor that's a joke, TMT, wants to raise the gas tax, veh tax etc.. and the majority of the other elected aren't any better, anti gun, CCW etc.. they should also have a term limit so maybe you always would have some people who will change and improve things.
Next year is an election year for a lot of this people, so send a message and vote these dip shits out !!.

In case you didn't know: Hawaii democrats have maintained control of the legislature and most of the governorship from 1962.

We can keep saying that we need to vote these people out, but we aren't voting them in to begin with.

Interview scheduled with the senator for today. Let's see if he follows through and can explain himself.

THAT BEING SAID, It will never happen, it will get shot down as unconstitutional in a heartbeat.

Anti-gun legislators don't give two rips about whether or not a law they write is constitutional or not, they leave that to the judiciary system to resolve. It would get shot down in a "heartbeat", if you measure heartbeat in years. The Peruta CCW case in CA is a prime example of this.

As expected : no return call.

In his defense, he did hve to fly back to big island to work in the ER, but a courtesy cancellation should have been in order

Will try again tomorrow.

Do you have home owners insurance?

Do you have renters insurance?

I fear that in the future we might have to. We are already taxed just for being alive (obamacare)

I actually am required to own home owners insurance, not just by the bank but also by my home owners association.

I agree it should not be a requirement but I mean to address the issue of whether this would mean additional insurance or whether any of us who have homeowners/renters insurance would already be covered by that in the event this law should pass.

Really Doug?

Can you take a break from trolling EEF?

Thank you for stepping in but I think I am alright. I didn't take his question as mean. His point is very valid with regards to one angle of the issue. He is just addressing a different side than I was, I don't feel he was trolling me there.

I have insurance on all my guns.  However this is a liability for if your guns break out of your safe and start shooting people. I smell an insurance company behind this.

HiCarry

I can't even imagine how these idiots got it to carry over. The SCOTUS has already ruled on this, Murdock v Pennsylvania 319 us 105.

It's not legal to charge for exercising a right protected by the Constitution.  More F*cking idiocy.  >:(
Nah, it's not applicable 'cause we all know the Second Amendment isn't treated the same way as the others.....(do I need to say that was sarcasm?)

HiCarry

Two significant issues that were covered during the interview but not aired:

First, criminal and self-inflicted acts are not covered under any liability coverage. You use your car in a bank robbery and total it, not covered under your existing (and mandatory) automobile coverage. So, the vast majority of gun shot incidents, being either a result of criminal endeavors or suicide, would not be covered.

Second, the issue of re-registration has been litigated before. Under the US Court of Appeals, DC Circuit, under "Heller II" any re-registration scheme was deemed unconstitutional. So, this legislator wants to introduce a bill that would incur massive costs associated with accommodating a huge logistical and administrative burden and that would certainly be challenged in court (and have a very good chance of being ruled unconstitutional) thereby incurring even more costs.....

Never happen. Criminal acts are not, and will never be covered....

I do believe drunk drivers are covered by their insurance even though they are committing a crime. Homeowners might not cover you if you straight up murder someone but if you shoot a home intruder maybe it would cover you against a lawsuit from the intruder or anyone else who suffered injury or property damage?

Insurance won't cover an intentional act.
Might pay for your defense but not indemnity depending on the circumstances. (Talking civil not criminal)
There are a ton of variables.

Shoot the upstairs/next door neighbor clearing weapon because you're a dumbass. Covered by homeowners/renters insurance.

Drunk driving accidents are generally not intentional but insurance won't cover any criminal defense.

I don't even know if there is such a thing as firearm liability insurance specifically. Maybe Lloyds of London.

Still haven't been able to reach green or the other guy; seems like they are ducking.

Also, Green received huge backlash on social media, with many calling for him to be removed from office as soon as possible.

Senator Green said this: "I've repeatedly heard from both sides-- gun control advocates and NRA members/gun rights enthusiasts --that responsible gun ownership is key for our nation."

His support is:
Jo Ann Iwane: Go for it.....
Toni Ann Symons: You are doing great work Josh!
