« on: February 03, 2016, 01:49:27 PM »
Sorry, if someone has posted something about this already, but just wondering if anyone has tried out the new online system yet for firearm registration?

The link provides the necessary forms that an applicant can fill out and print at home to apply for the permit to acquire a firearm. It helps to speed up the process of filling out the forms at the station. The registration of a firearm is after the firearm is purchased thru a dealer or FFL.

You can do both. They've added a firearm registration form to their online report system.

You mean they're actually trying to be more convenient
What's the catch?

I know right....but because of the increase in applications to acquire/registrations, the long lines, wait times and complaints...HPD had to create a way to reduce wait times, complaints and perhaps speed up the process.

to speed things along,
they can just have this:

<click here for denial letter>

is this online process for the entire apply and registration?
so how will they take your fingerprint and picture and no need visually inspect your firearm?
if so, it sounds good to me.

Looks to be some new thing, the Firearms Information page has been updated with the following:

**Effective February 1, 2016**

"You may now submit an Online Firearms Registration Form through our Online Report System by clicking here"

That would be awesome if you could avoid the physical inspection, but legally I don't think you can avoid that since the firearms inspection is a requirement in the HRS. Anything that can speed up the process is a plus in my book, I've been using the PDF forms online since they first came out and it has always saved me significant time.

I would hope that as part of the digital registration submission you would be able to fill out the complete firearm information and not just your personal information, that way they just have to cross-reference your submission with what's in front of them and verify that you have a valid permit. Whenever I've done the PDF version they only want you to fill out the personal information, they still write the firearm information manually on the form.

took a screenshot of the form. Interesting that there's a section in the form where you provide your 'Work schedule' and 'days off'. They looking to schedule appointments now or tell you to come back at a specific time? lol ;D

You register online, then hpd will do a house visit to verify the firearm, check your safe, etc

Per info from HPD, you can now fill out all the forms, with the exception of including your SSN and signature. Then when you go to HPD those forms are "Pre-populated" with everything except your SSN and signature. You provide your SSN, electronically sign and documents are done.

It's only for gun registration, not for Permit to Acquire.
