I went to the range today, which is about 35 minutes from downtown Las Vegas and it was very impressive.  There were a line of about 15 RV's parked by the skeet range and more down the street, not sure if there was a competition going on or if people just camp out at the range to shoot.  Was a warm 70 degrees today.  I paid the $9 in range fees (pistol/rifle range) and watched the 8 minute range safety video.  Everyone there was helpful and pleasant.  I fired off my left over shotshells from Frontsight and called it a day.   The range was pretty empty at 9am and the range staff said there is a short wait list on the weekends.

The range isn't completed yet so the stuff on the upper left side of the "master plan" isn't there.  The range had some difficulty breaking even in the finances since it opened.

Zippz, which classes did you take at Front Sight, and have they broken any new ground yet?

I have a general question about the Clark County gun range.  On the pistol side do we need to bring target and target stand or does the county provide the stand?  I’m scheduled to be there the first week of march and figured I will go check the place out. I do see there’s a fee to shoot. Beautiful looking public facility.

CC provides stands with cardboard. Just bring your own targets.

This is the vid I was told to watch if it's your first time when I called them.

I was there 6 months ago and just to add to what changemyoil said, you can also buy various targets in their store as well as rent guns.  Awesome range with top notch staff and plenty of holes in the ground for various target distances.

Mahalo!  I watched the video and noticed different distance Holes.  I firgure their range is top notch since gun manufacturers and other contributed to the range.  Aloha!

A few years ago, it was voted the best public range in the nation. After seeing how clean and smoothly it operates, I understand why.  Compare this to KHSC. You can't do this, you can't do that, etc...When I first called CC range and explained why I'm asking about holstering and mag limits, they asked if I was from Hawaii.

When I was there, I heard a guy shooting at a quick pace and instinctually I was thinking this guy is going to get in trouble, but nope, nothing happened.

On a sidenote I gotta try the sporting clays course next time since I was able to get a case of birdshot and leave it at my friend's house in Vegas.

This is a range where you can practice self-defense with a real weapon and a perp.

Quote
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say suspect Marvin Payton Jr., also known as Marvon, was shot and killed by police and three civilians after he tried to steal a gun inside the shooting range. Police encountered Payton in the parking lot where they say he stabbed an officer with a screwdriver before being shot and killed.
After the struggle ended, Payton was taken to the hospital where police say he told a surveying officer that he wanted the officer's gun and that it was a "nice gun."

Payton should have vacationed in HI where P.A. Steve (Mr. Softee on Crime) Alm would have prosecuted the civilians in the fight, stating that HI requires you to be hurt in a vital area, and suffer a concussion for lethal force to be employed in self-defense against an attacker.

When interviewed, the police thanked the armed citizens.  I took my renewal CCW class from Frank The Tank at Battlefield. Our pistols were in our waistband and not in an unsupervised bag/case.
