In a major victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Thursday sided with a broad coalition of gun owners, businesses and organizations that challenged the constitutionality of a Maryland ban on assault weapons and other laws aimed at curbing gun violence.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit said the state's prohibition on what the court called "the vast majority of semi-automatic rifles commonly kept by several million American citizens" amounted to a violation of their\ rights under the Constitution.

Glad this was challenged.   The whole ammo and gun tax should be challenged also in Washington.  That has the propensity to disenfranchise potential gun owners thus restricting citizens 2A rights.

From my understanding This is a great win in the fact that is it goes to the supre court they will have to hear it.

My understanding is the SCOTUS did not hear Friedman v. City of Highland Park (this is challenging a similar ban in a suburb in Chicago). They did no hear the case and instead left it to the lower courts decision (which said its constitutional). Now we have another court stating that its not. So if the state decides to push it to SCOTUS i believe they will be forced to hear it and FINALLY make a decision on banning items based on cosmetic features,
