Apparently our Constitutional rights are not valid on weekends and holidays.

Well im looking up case law, Lets see what previous decisions are about limiting when you can get a permit or register a firearm.

Are you suggesting that HPD should keep the firearms section open 24/7, 365 days a year?

I am not suggesting they should, Im saying that constitutionally they are required to.

24/7 is a stretch.  I'd settle for including Saturdays and availability at all stations.

Anything would be better then what it is now, That being said why should it not be 24/7? It has been rulled that they are allowed to conduct background checks, permits and registration.  But why should it be done only at a time convenient with them. By slecting the time when they will do such procedures they are putting a burden/restriction on our 2A rights.

I don't agree with having to do firearms registrations and permits, however there are other constitutional rights that are not provided 24/7.  Courts and judges are not 24/7 to provide speedy trials the next day or getting instant access to public defenders or the 48 window to get charged after an arrest.  You can't apply for a permit at midnight to hold a 1st amendment rally.  And others.

The government is the one that wants to get in the way, they need to keep up. We aren't discussing people being charged with a crime, this is about buying things that are legal to own. It's government's obligation to match the speed of the people not the other way around.

If only HPD did jail booking the way they do firearms reg.

Come back during the next business day to be booked into jail, if you don't come back within 10 days you need to start the process all over again.

All gun shops should be required to remain open 24/7 too.  And online purchases of firearms should instantly be magically beamed into your hands for free.  And why can't the peeps hold a rally on the Tarmac of HNL?

Except gun shops are not a government entente and are not putting restrictions on our rights, The government (of Honlulu/Hawaii) is making a choice to require permits, background checks and registration and as such the process should be without burden (ever wonder why their is no fee for registering a firearm). By restricting the time and days you can get their required service they are putting a restriction on when you can exercise your constitutionally protected rights.

With regards to holding a rally on the Tarmac, This is for safety reasons for both those on the ground and those in the air, Restricting the times and days of the firearms department is available is done for only one reason, To inconvenience and by doing so restrict access to firearms in the city/county/state
